Hi All, I want to fit 16'' wheels to my 75 308GT4. So far I only like the look of the Superformance QV repo wheels. Can I assume these wheels will fit a 308 GT4? The set from Superformance are 7'' front and 8'' rear. Thanks George
you are correct...they will fit...though you are required to post a pic of your GT4 in the 308 forum ASAP for just asking the question! JIM
Hi Jim, Thanks for the feedback. Did you buy the UK wheels? I've attached the only photo I have on me at the moment. It was taken the day I picked the car up. I was about 30Kls into a 1000Klm drive when one of the period Michelins fitted to the car decided to pack it in. The tyres looked the part, you know 95% tread but about 100 years old !!! Anyhow about 3 hours later (the previous owner left the car without a wheel brace or jack) I was on my way again. See U Later George Image Unavailable, Please Login
I purchased these wheels from Superformance for my 77 308GTB, very pleased with them....the original 14 inch rims just didn't do the car justice......
I have seen this pic before!!! Nice car. The QV wheels will look awesome on it! I went with 328 wheels on mine. <see pic> Good luck! JIM Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yup, they fit well. On mine, they rub a bit at max steering, and - much more serious - they have grabbed the inside of the wheel wells on a few occasions, chipping of the paint. I need a respray now Both are a result of the slightly greater offset of the repros (greater than the wheels that I used to have in any case). I have heard of others who did not have the problems that I have. Mine is pretty low. Might have something to do with it. Make sure that you get the hubcentric rings from Superformance. They will charge you nothing for it, but you may need it. On some (apparently not all) F-cars, the hubs of the fronts are of smaller diameter than the backs. And thus, your wheels will only be held in place by the bolts. This causes a vibration in your steering wheel at speeds over 60 mph that no wheel balancing will take care of (don't ask me how I know). The rings are just two nylon pieces, but they work wonderfully well. Hans P.S. Nothing but good words on Superformance. Great guys! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hans, I suspect you are speaking of the front only? I have not heard of this before, and at least from your first of two pictures, you car looks a bit lower than stock? Perhaps that explains the clearance issue? Or could the springs have sagged a bit? I know that some have had to replace springs do to this issue. I have to admit, ALL 308's look so much better with the QV wheels on them. I had them on my 78 308GTS and it looked and handled terrific. Especially since I put 225 on the front and 245s on the rear! And no rubbing!
I should mention that the 225 front and 245 rears I had on my 308 were on a GTS, not a GT4. It would probably be safest to stick with 205 front and 225 rear to ensure no rubbing.
No, my car!! Wheels are from Superformance - look great fit great - no spacers or stuff like that. Cheers Mark Taiwan/UK
Hi All, Got my wheels from the UK on Thursday and had 205/55 & 225/50 Bridstone Potenza Adrenalin's fitted. Here's what she looks like now. Image Unavailable, Please Login
They look great George. Happy driving. Bit of a bummer about your first drive. Looking at the plate I guess you were driving it home to brissy.
Thanks Brett, Yep risky move, bought the car site unseen at Shannons Sydney Motor show auction last year, flew to Sydney and made it 30 Kls north when one of the ancient Michelins gave way. The fun part was there was no jack or wheel brace in the car, 3 hours later I was on my way again. Great car but I think the previous owner didn't drive it far or much. Cheers George
