Am doing a light resto on a newly acquired S1 GT4 and need to replace all front and rear suspension bushes. Superformance offer ‘Hard’ sets as an option. Does anyone have comparable experience between ‘normal’ and ‘hard’? Are there any specific benefits or downsides to the ‘hard’ option? I’m also fitting SP 16” rims and the ‘fast’ 2.5 rack. The car is not a garage queen and will be driven often, with an annual Hillclimb event (participation, not podium is the primary objective!). Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Its worth calling SF and getting their perspective on the two bush types.

When I talked to them, they said their softer bushes were firmer than the factory ones. They were quite proud of their rubber formulation.

They told me that their hard bushes were for track use and that I probably wouldn’t like them on a road car.

FWIW the new bushes really transformed the handling on my car but most of the effect was probably just because my original bushes were so badly worn and any new ones would feel better.

FWIW - I used the standard Superformance bushings on my GT4. I replaced during a thorough chassis freshening service. No complaints. The quality is very nice. I too was curious about the harder bushings, but I'm a big believer in following the factory recipe as much as possible, and the cars handle fantastic as delivered.

Another F-chatter buddy suggested to me when I spoke with him about the harder bush was to look into the higher ratio steering rack which makes the car feel more responsive. Makes sense, but I didn't pursue it as I stuck with my previous comment. IIRC - I think Niki Lauda provided guidance in tuning the 308's (?).

Thanks mate. Will stick to standard bushes, but I am indeed fitting the ‘fast’ rack. Will report back on the result.
