    HI guys and gals, I have a 1979 308GT4 track car with a "BBLM" like front end; carbon, splitter, etc; great down force on the track, but too low for street cruising. I am in search of some one who can pull a splash/mold off the front quarter pannels and top cowling of their GT4. I live in Florida, so if you're local, I can assist.

    I have many stock parts left over willing to trade; also have molds of doors, lids front and rear as well as engine cover. I have side glass for both sides, parking brake handle assembly, sunroof entire assembly; stock engine mounts, various AC and heater parts, entire recoverd stock dash assembly with all guages and instruments, etc. If you don't want a trade, we can talk money as necessary.

    I have had a couple people ask me further about the set up of my GT4.

    The work was done by Mike Colucci Racing of Jupiter, we used F40 blue prints to change the front suspension pick up points, gave it 9 degrees of anti dive, F40 Aarm mounts to lower the chasis about 1.5 inches, tubular Aarms from Jim Carpenter, Penske shocks, dual progressive springs, Wilwood GN big brakes and rotors, full FIA roll cage with extension to the front and rear suspension pick ups; 3.0 L turbo motor by Norwood, with massive intercooler (never runs hot), variable Porsche 956 boost control, Colotti transmission, etc. I'll up load more photos when time permits. Wet it's 2250 lbs.

    Learned alot about set up of the 308 GT4 frames. They're great platforms; not much different in comparison to the F40 frame, with the exception of the anti dive and I think the F40 used a higher quality chrome molloy tubing, so I am told.

    Can you give some more details on the turbo setup? Perhaps some detailed pictures? Will the car be in Jupiter anytime in the near future? I have a place near there.

    thanks,

    Sorry don't understand. Why would you want to "street cruise" this car ... surely would now never be suited or even legal.

    But an awesome race GT4 ... belongs in a race, not cruising :).

    The motor is a single turbo by Garrett; ceramic bearings, oil and water cooled; it is moderately large; dialed for max performance between 5500 and 7500 rpm's; motor has modified big valve heads and cooper gasket; can run 1.0 to 1.5 atm;

    This is the second turbine; the previous was only a bushing Garrett model and developed 362 HP at the rear wheels with approx 10 psi at 6600rpm, then we ran out of injector; So now we've moved to 55lb blue printed injectors; I am running an antiquated Accel Gen 7 injection system which I am afraid is insufficient; I run a Pectel SC6 ECU and Pi dash on my 1997 and 1999 Ducati 996 RS WSBK's; the original factory Marrelli was challenging and the Eprom system antiquated like the Accell 7; I anticipate updating the GT4 turbo to a Pectel system this winter. Garrett told us it will be hard to flow more than 375 to 400 HP through this plumbing system. Also, 2 valve heads are limited due to more preignition problems. a 4 valve 3 liter 308 with twin turbos can squeeze out 450 to 500 HP with the right heads and flow.

    In regards to single vs. dual turbo, dual is better, period. On this transverse engine, dual requires cutting a lot of body to get them on either end of the block, like the twin turbo 308 GTB of Jolly Club fame (caught fire at Dayton 24 hours after setting THE fastest qualifying lap); Mike Colucci was there at that time and said the 308 biturbo was extremely fast; faster than the Porsche 930's of the time, just it was a privateer effort, underfunded, mechanical injection and weak transmission.

    The single set up lag time is not bad as on the track it is always spooled up, so for us mear mortals club racing it is fine. It was simple to plumb; we'll see what the winter brings.

    yes the car is still registered for the road. yes I like to ride now and then and get that bruuummmm factor. the current track set up gives only 30-40 mm clearance at the splitter, so too low for the street; It will have two complete front ends by the end of the fall.

    It is hard to believe over one year has past since my last post on the GT4 track car build/restoration; we have been quite busy molding and fabricating the various parts; delayed by the joys of life and racing my Ducatis; hooked up with a local paint shop, we are making headway again.

    I will try and keep a constant post of the development for the upcoming changes; target is Maranello Madness 2013; I am trying to be realistic.

    here are some pics of the air dam, euro quarters and molding of GT4LM front bonnett headlight areas. more to come

    Euro glass/carbon quarter pannels and carbon bonnett trimmed; you can see the cloudy whitish area around the Dino logo mount where I started with the fiberglass weave; converted to the carbon afterwards. Not perfect; will get trimmed and sanded / body work before mounting & painting
