Where do you guys and gals think the 308 GT4 is trending? Do you think that prices are starting to rise and continue to do so?
Yes. And if not now, later, so buy anyway and drive and have some fun. And, for California owners, 1974 and 1975 are the only non-smog requirement cars, which adds value. Not easy to get carved cars through CA smog one of the reasons why I sold my GTB.
I have been seeing prices rising along with more offers to buy my car. Makes me think it's a positive trend. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Of course we GT4 owners want to see a positive value for these cars, and hope the value is going straight up! The market will be the deciding factor, though. Not everyone likes this body style, though many are becoming attached to its beauty now that it has aged a bit, unlike myself who thought it was the living end when it first introduced.
Having been in the market for a GT4 for about 9 months here are my observations. If you go back through the GT4 for sale thread there seemed to be cars popping up for sale frequently. Prior to that time good cars would still take several months to sell. Since the Fall of 2013 the flow of cars for sale seems to have slowed down at the same time there are people taking the time to post a 'want to buy' ad. Decent cars sell quickly and only the dodgy ones linger. Supply down - demand up = rising prices. Maybe this summer will yield some more cars into the market that may slow the rise in prices?
Judging from the recent eBay sale prices on GTS's they are a bargain for a carb car. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
What's the price ranges for these cars? I mean does it make a difference on the years relitive to price and if so what are the differences?
I think '75 and earlier has a little advantage due to California emissions laws, as well as no cats and higher HP. I've been seeing them sell from $20,000 to $35,000. Pretty wide range it seems. Dealers seems to be asking even more than that, especially in Europe. Just my observations the last 5 months... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You won't get an ok to good and original EU GT4 in Europe below 35-40 now. Very good, complete and original EU examples have sold for around 80-90 in the last 12 months. Cars in other (factory) colors than red are rarely offered, which seems to add around 20-30% to the asking price. Very good cars are rare now and hard to find here, also restored cars are sometimes not restored to original (factory) condition which makes them difficult to sell here.
I think they are on the rise for sure. Some of my friends that used to tease me for wanting a GT4 are now in the market for one. Sometimes it take a while for a car to be appreciated, the GT4 being one of them.
Definitely. The Ferrari shop here in town has wealthy collectors pulling these out of their collections for restoration. This is something they haven't seen on GT4's much previously they told me. Also several customers inquired as to if my car was for sale while it was there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
