I was hoping someone might have some suggestions as to what glue would work best in the trunk to keep the carpet in place? When I bought the car, this carpet was hanging. After getting the car repainted, the carpet was glued back in place, but just two months later, whatever glue was used doesn't seem to have done the trick (as you can see in the photos below). I found older threads recommending various products for floor carpets in other cars, but those threads are old (hence recommended product may not exist anymore), and the trunk gets a lot hotter than the passenger cabin, so maybe it needs a different glue. Thoughts, suggestions? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I like Weldwood brush on, but be sure to follow the directions closely. For spray on adhesives I always use 3M products like 90 or 94, but again surface prep is the key for long lasting bonds. Get your products outside California, because the ridiculous environmental laws here means no paint or chemical product work as intended. CA safe products may as well be water.
3M 847 My upholstery guy uses it and turned me on to. It is contact cement. Apply to both surfaces, let dry for 5 min. or so, then wala! Works on carpet, leather, rubber mouldings, gaskets...and so on.
Shoe glue for minor peels works well .How ever looks like you are gonna have to rip it all off and repeat it with industrial volumes . Evo stick do a 250 ml vol .
Based upon the remaining on the trunk surface ( same as in my GT4 ) would say Colla Artiglio ( shoes glue ) which was THE glue. Still available on all hardware shops in Italy. The basic tips : 1- Remove old stuff from surfaces ( whip trunk with acool ) 2- Glue on both surfaces 3- Let dry ( up to 15 min ) 4- Press by hand to ensure adhesion Ready to go next day Image Unavailable, Please Login
I always use this glue for upholstery... great stuff, better then 3M spray glue...once you apply this stuff to both sides, let it tack up, then bond it together... it will not come apart! I just did my entire carpet kit with this stuff Image Unavailable, Please Login
I like the idea of this, unfortunately I'm in the US! Seems this stuff is sold only in Italy (easily found on eBay, Amazon, etc.). Wondering if I would have trouble getting it shipped here… California is strict about their chemicals.
Yeah, there's a lot of stuff we can't even get here. Recommendations on where to order stuff like this that would ship to California?

I believe I purchased this stuff from Amazon, as its compliant with shipping to CA. I agree, there's a lot to adhesives out there as the choice is yours!
I use this on mine in 2006 and it is still holding, though, there might be something better. Image Unavailable, Please Login
