Hi I recently bought the car and have received a copy of the original order. This has raised some questions...

What is the spoiler? My car has a roof spoiler seen on later cars. I assumed was not original, it has a deep front spoiler.

What are wide star wheels specifically?

Why would the fog lights be "missing" !

One more question does anyone know when the front zip compartment was phased out?

Rear roof spoiler is the spoiler.
It was seen on early show cars in 1977, as the Boxer had it.

The shallow or deep front panel is correctly called a valence, as it is part of the body.

Standard 14" rims were 6.5" wide, the 7.5" are an "option".

"Flash to Pass" grill lights were an option or legal requirement of some countries.
You might have had to cut grill bars, or for UK, not required??

The spare zipper cover was phased out in late '77, early '78, when the windshield washer reservior changed from a soft "saddle bag" into a hard poly bottle, the cover was deleted.

    Anything else?

You also have a "Dino Blue" Salchi called out that a different code than I have seen for it.

Ah, the blowing sands of time....

Even though it says "Free Italian Border" to leave Italy, I wager a carton of cigarettes was involved.....

    thanks big tex,

so I can assume star wheels are just the normal campags?

is it rare for a factory roof spoiler in 1977 I haven't seen any early cars with this option?

can you please expand on the comment about the colour code, my car is going to paint this week so I don't want to get this wrong, my car is currently black but I am returning it to original colour. In the windshield surround there is evidence of the metallic blue which looks quite dark for dino blue, pic attached.

I didn't raise it as a question in my original post, i was planning on giving the invoice details to the painters, just wanted to clarify what bigtex was saying about the colour code, in case he was suggesting an error on the invoice.

I think with the windshield area color you can't go wrong. BTW you will have a very nice car. I love blue on tan.
I miss my sera blue on tan Mondial.

    Brian,

I think it is an anachronism, that is to say: not period correct.
The roof spoiler appeared on some exposition cars at the end of the seventies, (I think the 308 "Millechiodi" has it), but, to the best of my knowledge, it was not available, not even as an option, on carbed cars. It only became available as an option on the two valve injected cars.

If you have an Euro car, the change had been made during the period from end of November to mid december 77 so your car should have it. (on US car, change had been made earlier, in October)
The Fog and Flashing facility lights could be found quite easily. You can have either early Bosh fog light ou Cibié long range. Both are for passing light only except if you have the modificated option with a switch on the console to use as fog light (so in that case, you should have Bosch ones).

On carbed cars, I'm almost sure they weren't available from new and are a later retrofit.

Well, the English word "spoiler" is here more confusing than the italian, which uses two different words: "sottoscocca" for the front spoiler (the deep front spoiler is "Sottoscocca anteriore maggioratto"), and "Alletone" for the roof spoiler, which could be translated by "aerofoil"...

    alettone, just one "L"

rear wing (alettone posteriore) was installed since april-may 1982 on 208 turbo (that came as standard, in 1982), that was the first car to have it. Then it become an option on 308 QV, starting from the end of 1982, when the QV was introduced. It costed 400000 lire

    ciao
