Can you post a picture of the correct screw and the ones you have now?

Did you ask Tim Stanford? He sometimes has bits laying around.

Correct ones are large and flat oval head with flat slot.

    We've asked everyone.

All we know is that the judge at the Miami Beach Concours docked us a couple
of points due to non-matching/incorrect screws.

Good idea about Tim. He's got one of our 328s currently which should be wrapping
    up this week.

If same as 1978 and later models... The screws should be Phillips pan head sheet metal screws. The head is approx 9.2mm diameter. The length is 13mm. The screw diameter is 4.5mm. Finish is chrome.

Screws in your photos look about right. I don't think washers should be present.

Definitely not the same as my 77. My car #22063 has threaded screws with flat screwdriver. Not phillips metal screws. Heads are fairly large for the size of the threads and also very lightly domed. The size of the heads are about the size of the washers in the OP pictures. I know they are the original ones.

Here is the closest picture I've found on the net. My guess is that aluminium with glued zipper cover have those. Molded plastic have the other. But this is just my thought.

Here is a photo of a 1977 308 found online. Screws are slotted and have broad shallow heads. Hard to see but no apparent washers.

It's an ultra flat slot head, oversized in diameter!!

So, no Hardware Store stuff will work...

It's only a 1/16" tall, to clear the hood I guess, and at least 1/2" in diameter, so washers are not required....

The photo provided by godabitibi depicts a TRUSS HEAD SLOTTED MACHINE screw.

Perhaps he will measure for you so you can source easily.

My car is not at home, I'll try to remember to take close pics and measure next time I go there but it can be a while before I go.
