    Does any one know the number of wet sump 308 GTB fibreglass models made out of the 712 ie like the ones supplied to the US and Aus markets?

    Without any warranty whatsoever, the admitted figures of wet sump cars manufactured as such for the US market is usually quoted at 100, but some qualified people (again, I am not!) say that there could have been a few more.
    For Australia, the figure I have is 42 cars manufactured originally for the australian market. But take it with a pinch of salt, as nothing Ferrari at this time was engraved in stone, and, again, I am no expert.

    Interesting. Thanks for that. Sounds about right which means circa 550 ish cars were drysump. Quite a rare beasty either way.

    As I already wrote in another post, it's even more rare that you would think, because, after having observed the market, what is rather astonishing is that it seems that a fair number of the cars that are still left have been modified to acquire some racing character, with wider wheels and arch etc...some of these are totally rebuild.
    I would say, as I wrote, that you have three groups of cars, more or less identical in size:
    A first group of rather tired cars, with engine, leather, paint, in dire need of refresh; and for which you would need a fair amount of money before bringing these back to "respectable" status.
    Second one is cars that have been customised to look "racy"; for some, it has been done with care, that means returning back to stock condition is still possible without too much work; for others it would need some drastic work.
    Third group is of good to excellent "stock condition" cars, with clear history, transparent maintenance, etc...
    A gross estimation is that France received at the time about 7 per cent of Ferrari production, which would mean about 50 to 60 "Vetroresinas"; lets say that, at the most, you could still find 20 cars in "stock" condition: that's makes these rare indeed...
    A nice, stock example in good/very good condition would have an asking price of about 75.000 euros, and, if really pristine, should sell for an actual price of about 65.000 to 67.500, I would say.
    But you don't see many of these for sale; perhaps the owners are waiting for it to become the next "Dino", as the market seems to believe it would, or should, be!

    there are two here in Toronto with build numbers higher than 100.
    Numbers 106A, 118A
    thses are the build numbers stamped on the frames.
    both are 1976 usa spec fiberglass cars

    110 wet sump cars is the number I have heard. I have one, thank god!
