Aluminium repro's appear on ebay and they look like pretty good copies. Saw one a few days back. Replacement steel ones will suffer the same problem as the factory originals.

 

I sent mine to HPC in vic, they split it open, repair any damage, ceramic coat it in and out then weld it up and paint it. That was a few years ago now and I can't remember what it cost as I had my headers done at the same time. It may be a cheaper option than buying a new one

Who is making these things? the welds are awful. Can't they clean them up or something?

Can't they fusion weld the thing instead of having the ugly filler wire.

 

They're actually ones I got made in an emergency prep for Classic Adelaide last year.... And yes, I was disappointed with appearance too.

But they are functional and available and they wont corrode!

And with a little fettle and a polish, or some wrinkle finish paint, they look great.

I've subsequently got another fabricator to do another one, and it's really nice.

You should note, the one in Carls pic is an Aussie spec one, for use with a charcoal cannister bracketed car. A UK car has a different shape outlet pipe(Millard... are you listening?)... tut tut concorso points there.....

Well I've tried the rythm technique and I've tried the pinch technique... what else will help to stop.....
