    Hello,

I own a 308 GTB QV and I would need some advice.

My passenger window channel rubber part is torn up at the top of the door (approximately 5cm long).

My window motors, pulleys were are redone last year when the car was fully repainted. I also added relays to the motor. Windows go up and down quickly and nicely.

Now I need to solve this channel issue and I do not want to damage anything with the glass.

I have replacement channel parts (for both passenger and driver sides):
    - the one which covers the top door frame and the front vertical guide, with an agle to fit the window shape
    - several meters of straigth channel, which is used for the vertical part on the back vertical guide

I know how to take the door panel and access the inside of the door.

My problem now, is how to replace the channels without damaging the window.

Is there any known method to do that ? Do I need to disconnect the window and extract it completely from the top frame?
I searched the forum without success.
I would prefer to it myself, but if impossible then I will take it to a repair shop.

thanks in advance for any help, I do not want to damage the window glass.

I've done the same job, but on a GTS QV so unfortunately I cannot give you specific instructions for the GTB, but I would have thought that it's not too difficult to do. Just take your time with it.

Do you have a 308 QV spare parts manual so you can see an exploded view of the door? That will give you a headstart, then take plenty of photos before any disassembly.

I'd assume (looking at the exploded diagram) that you would loosen the window frame mounting points and allow for enough room to manoeuvre the window glass out (once you undid it from the cable). Take note of all the spacers / washer arrangements so it goes back in the same way.

Note: the window channels were glued in with a contact adhesive at the factory, but they won't be too difficult to remove from the frame. Make sure you clean off any remnants of the old dried adhesive before applying new adhesive.

    Good luck
