My rear turn signal lenses is a little faded on my 308. I see that lenses are available from Superformance in the UK. Has anyone ever tried to change the lens ? Seems like it's glued or siliconed to the housing? So maybe it's just to cut the edge with a razorblade or something to remove the lense from the housing ? Any experience with the lens from Superformance ? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Very simple. There are 3 long skinny bolts (I think) from the inside that hold the lense and the base. There is a rubber gasket in the middle . Remove the housing from inside the trunk. Hang on to these nuts while removing them since they're tiny. It's easy to drop them into the abiss. Superformance is ok to do business with since I used them a few times already. I use my CC with no foreign trans fees. You will have to pay VAT %20 if you are non EU. They use DHL delivery and it's very fast. I took 3 days from UK to California.
Yes, removing the whole housing is not that difficult. But how to remove the lens from the housing, as I am thinking of just replacing the lens ? Cheaper, and my housing is in good shape. So no need to replace the whole unit. Is it glued or siliconed to the housing ? I'm from Denmark, so shipping and payment is very easy for me ;-)
There was a thread here a few years ago and if I remember correctly replacing just the plastic lens did not turn out very well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
When I ordered just the lenses from Superformance, I was told that they didn't have any in stock. If I wanted a lens, I'd have to buy the entire light. I asked them why they were still indicating that they were available, and didn't receive an answer. Same thing with Ricambi.
According to this thread if you put them in the dishwasher, the lens will separate: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/carello-lights.267422/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hhmmmmm, looks like the lenses are still not available. Got this email this morning. "Thank you for your order. You have requested part number 30819057, rear indicator/reverse lens. This part is on back order and has been for a number of years. We have another option. WE have 30819056, which is the entire assembly for this light, for £155.55." So I will see if I can find a good used one instead. Or maybe a pair. My right one is actually ok.
Several years back I order a set from Superformance to have as spares. I was surprised the lights that shipped were OEM lights in Ferrari boxes. Never figured out how to separate the lens from the housing. I'll have to test the soapy water test.
