    Hi
Things are good out here... apart from the rain
Mine are for sure painted. I had talked about this with rocco at one point and i am pretty sure he said his were painted as well.

Calisi has a point about the profile. The rear part of the window frame has like an extension on The outside edge that wasnt on the frame from
    My steele gtb.

My glass car is very early so maybe they changed part way through.

    Ferrari 308 Vetro,

On the bar that has Search and FerrariAds.com, there is also Paid Subscriptions. Click on it. You buy a one year silver subscription for $15 (I think there is also a euro option). It will enable a number of other site features and allow you to post as many pictures as you want. There are fancier subscriptions, but that will accomplish what you want.

    Regards,

    Art S.

Thanks all for more thoughts on the black window frames, it's looking like they should be painted.

Noticing more things as I get used to my recently acquired Vetroresina, anyone help me with this number stamped in the
chassis in the topside left of the engine bay, in this case 30. A production number perhaps?

Hi Mike, I haven't noticed that before either. The car is in my possession for 14 years now, so thanks for pointing it out. My lucky number is 151, and I assume it is a production for the frame, but not sure.

It puts a smile on my face every time I am taking it for a spin....(photo courtesy of Peter Terpstra, 2013). Regarding the frame windows, hard to judge, I would say paint.

Hi Marlon, car looks great in Silver especially with the original 14's and the higher profile tyres.

Thanks, i'll try to keep it as original as possible. It's a great drive and the 14" balloons make it rather comfy as well. Are you happy with your Vetro ? The engine looked brand spanking new ...;-)

It's a beautiful very original UK car which I'm having fun getting to know. The 14's on mine are the slightly wider 7 and a half inch option
which fill the arch a little more and with the balloon shoulders of the Michelins XWX, it looks wonderfully period.

Best bit at the moment is the noise, the induction of the webers from the duct through the door and into the rear wing is right by the
drivers ear in a RHD car, it really is the most glorious sound!

    That is the build number.
You'll find it in all kinds of places, for example on the rear fibreglass inner wheel arch moulds, on the back of the trim that covers the door hinges ( where the door light switch is bolted too.) and on the inside of the door trims.
As these are handbuilt cars and a lot of the pieces where individually shaped , the numbering was there to ensure the various components went in to the correct bodyshell that they were made for.

30 means it's the 30th GTB built, mine is 110.

Haha, I know the feeling and the sound (and my passengers oftenly make compliments about the sound) ! you also claim that the true pleasure is on the right side, hmmm...I am not going to try, because I like the driving even better. I am still using a single exhaust, which we refurbished two years ago. Regarding the tyres; I ve experimented with different sizes, but in the end this was my preference. If your ownership in the next 14 years will bring you as much joy and excitement as I had, you will be even more satisfied as you are right now !

It's referred to as the "build number' and it helped them keep the parts together....as noted you'll find it marked in various ways on the back side of many pieces of the body and trim, if you keep a look out for it...

On our North American cars, it's on the bracket that holds the dual coils.

    Correct

Incorrect! It is an internal build number but has been proven to not be sequential. Having #30 does not mean it is the 30th car built.

    George,

Don't ask me why, because I don't know, but the four-pipe exhaust (ANSA, I guess) is actually quite common on swiss-market cars. I suspect it was a dealer-suggested option.
On other european "Vetroresinas", the single pipe is almost universal; when you see an European "Vetroresina" with a four-pipe exhaust, the chances are that she is a swiss-market car. Which this one is...

Hi, do you have any information about this car beside the fact it is from Swiss? Actually I went to see this car no later than last Sunday. I forgot to note the serial number, and the shop refused to tell me what it is when I mailed them about it.
The car's condition isn't perfect, it was repainted and there are still some cracks on the paint on a few spots. The shop knows basically nothing about the car's life before its entry in Japan in 2009. The only thing I was able to check was that it ran 10,000km during the last 2 years. I would seriously consider buying it (I live in Japan, of course), but I'm not so sure about the shop's reliability, especially after the S/N episode...

By the way, another glass 308 was just sold in Japan, it had only 32K KM, was being repainted in a very professional way, and someone bought it without even coming to see it for around 120K$.

Update: Nevermind, I think I know from where you got this information, I suspect I know you under another nickname on another forum! ;-)

Funny story: tonight I checked one of my only Japanese car magazines, called, well, "Car Magazine", dated December 2008, and I found a 10 pages long article on what I believe is the car I went to see! It has the exact same features, and was imported in Japan around the time I was told the car I saw was, with the same number of km on the clock. Plus, it says the S/N is 20821, and I am pretty sure it was the number I saw and the car but couldn't memorize at the time.

So, if anybody has any information about this car, I'd be interested to hear it!

    Furanku,

Unfortunately, it doesn't get any easier: 20821 is unknown to the registers I have access to (Matthias Urban's on line at f-register.com, and the 308 GTB register of Robert Retzlaff...).
That car is just "out of the blue" I guess...perhaps by a stroke of luck, someone hear will have some info?

    Rgds.
