I'm looking for an early ('76 or '77) 308 GTB. If it's a fiberglass model, so much the better. Pluses would be good service & owner history, no rust or frame damage, red/blk (blk/blk, blk/tan), low mileage, no irreversible modifications--in other words, as original as possible. It must have functional emission equipment & pass the state test. I'm willing to pay a premium price for a premium car, and will travel up to 250 miles from Boulder, CO, on fairly short notice. If you have or know of such a car for sale, I'd appreciate hearing from you.

Thank you Alex. I had seen and discounted most of those advertised on the east coast--too far just to look and I do have to see it before I buy it.
The one in Denver, with the relatively high miles, was advertised months ago and I thought it'd been sold. Just in case I'll give it a try.
Although I'd like to get a car sooner rather than later, I'd rather wait for the right one--a low mile original example would be the ticket. To me it would be worth the extra $$$.
Does anyone out there think a subscription to the Ferrari Market Letter is worth the price of admission when hunting for a car?

    Hi Ricardo,
My name is Jonathan Nelson and I may have a Ferrari that would interest you, although I am only interested in selling if another car I am pursuing becomes available. I have owned my 308gtb for about 12 years and I know the car's history. It is black/tan, full Euro spec (dry sump, deep spoiler, vestigial bumpers, etc) fiberglass car. I drove the car a lot up until I bought a boxer a few year ago (also Black-but with dark red interior, also full euro spec). My 308 is titled as a 1977 and the serial number reflects that it is one of the last fiberglass cars. It has a fairly rare factory dual exhaust with matching rear panel work, unlike most glass cars. I have always been able to tune the car to pass emissions without problem, and now that it is over 25 yrs old, it's kind of a non-issue. I have the original wheels with tires, but I purchased a set of 16" QV wheels from my friend Ted Waibel (new) and installed P-zeros. This is a very nice running, driving car. I suppose it is getting close to needing belts, which I'd be happy to do if I decide to sell. There is no question in my mind that this spec is far and away the most desirable of all the 308 series, and the most collectable long-term.
I am not a dealer or anything like that, but I am an Italian car guy almost from infancy. I also own the Boxer, a Mexico, a 365 Gt (Kenny Sindall's old car), a '59 Giulietta Spider Veloce, a '66 Giulia Spider Veloce, and some Caterham Sevens (not Italian, but I hear one hurt an ""F40LM"" pretty bad at a short track a while back). I and the car live in unincoporated Jeffco (near Arvada), which is only more than 250 miles from Boulder in ideology. Drop me a message if you'd like to talk about the car.

    Jon

It does not sound like it is For Sale...........yet!

The 1977 build is correct for the last glass cars, they went down the line with the first steel ones.......

    Like #22127, 22641.........early steel ones.......

I know there's A LOT of F cars hiding up there in them Rocky Mountains, but a 500 mile circle is a pretty small "Ferrari search window".........

Sounds like you've located a nice Euro Glass car though, so who am I to talk!

There was an FCA member in Co. Springs sold his glass car last year, it was not a Euro, IIRC. High miles as well, 80K miles or so.........

Oops. I had no idea how many people read these lists. In my response to Ricardo, I mentioned a few of my other cars. These cars are NOT for sale- the 308gtb is only available if I get another car I am interested in. I've received a BUNCH of emails asking about the other cars and the 308- don't bother, as I do not want to sell any of them at this point. 8valve, I'll try to find some pics of my 308 and post a couple. Roland, the event in May sounds great, are Caterhams allowed? Frankly, the Ferraris I have are not the greatest track cars, very few older streetable Ferraris are (too heavy, weak brakes, etc etc)- the F40 is clearly an exception to that rule. In fact, that is really why I got interested in the Caterham in the first place, many years ago. They are unbeatable as cheap, street-legal track cars. My most recent one, a McLaren Orange Superlight R was on the cover of Car & Driver a few months ago (behind the new Elise). It whupped all the other cars on the track by a significant margin. Note that the car used in the Automobile article a few months back was also one of my cars (Titanium silver) and my friend Mark Gillies drove it 6 secs a lap faster around Barber Motorsports than he could drive an Elise- we also smoked a Noble M12. Not bad for the price of a couple major services on a Ferrari. Basically, since I can't really justify the price of buying a really fast Ferrari (another way of saying I'm too cheap) I go fast in Caterhams and enjoy my Ferraris for more esthetic reasons- don't get me wrong, I drive all my cars hard, but realistically, even a Boxer is a slug by modern standards. On the other hand, I think it is a beautiful car with great details, and that it is an icon of the era in which it was designed and built.

I have client who owns a beautiful '77 gtb that is looking to sell it. He purchased the car locally about 15 years ago and it is Black/Red. Let me know if you want some more info.

i looked at total of 11 1977 308 gtb's before i bought my car *20433*. ( see profile pic) mine has the airpumps , but no cats and is emissions exempt here in GA. my 308 will be on the market in the next few weeks as i am hunting a 365/512 carb Boxer. i may have info on some of the other cars i did not buy, PM me with any specifics you may need. one car in Denver for certain was junk and along with a car in Texas, the owner refused to allow a local PPI.
