Simply not true, there are plenty of bodyshops in the UK that are specialists in glass fibre - they service the historic race teams, kit car owners and careless Ferrari owners who destroy their deep front spoilers on kerbs, speed bumps and steps.

I do see your point regarding the value of these cars though. There was a phase a few years back when someone decided that the perfect Ferrari collection was Enzo/F50/F40/288GTO/308GTB (glass) - presumbably this was seen as the natural lineage. This triggered a race between people with too much money to build such a collection. Presumably the following week they were collating something else (properties, paintings, wheelbarrows - who knows).

I may just be a little bitter though as I just missed buying one in 1998 when the price differential between a steel 308 and a glass 308 was only about 10%

Somebody here really hates fiberglass. Currently owning a steel car (used to be two steel cars) and a glass car, I’d part with my glass car last. I’ve had to fix areas on my car’s fiber glass door…it was easy and inexpensive…didn’t need a special shop or metal body panels. Resin and glass cloth and some shaping and done! I also can lean over my fenders any time and when they buckle, they pop right back to shape! My steel cars…oh hell no! People hate what they want to hate for weird reasons. I think our lady doth protest too much!

AFAIK all the euro/UK 308GTBs were dry sump - glass and metal.

One of the big issues with the OP's car might well be the number of missing parts. When these cars were modified for racing it was common to ditch the interior and anything else that wasn't required, so you'd need to source and reinstate all that. On the plus side, that should all be possible given how good the parts support is for old Ferraris, but it won't be cheap. If it's driveable on the road as it is it will likely be very noisy and have only one seat.

We are drifting into generalisations ,
Do remember it’s been stood in a damp climate ( not cocooned ) for years .A climate that dictates salty roads for 4 / 5 months ish pa .

If it was a SA or California car then the chassis corrosion issue would have remained silent on this thread .

More specifically a lot of the modded cars in the U.K. were not trailered to the what ever event(s) be it hill climbs or circuits but driven there damp roads and all throughout the year .

There’s no hate of glass cars here just real world U.K. old car issues often hidden .The unblemished from a rust pov bodies gives a false sense it’s a “ good un “

With steel bodies any corrosion evidence is hard to disguise even for the newbies , there’s a clearly visible spectrum cosmetically to get a handle of what you are buying .
