Looks like a fairly early injected GTBi. It’s interesting somebody ordered (changed?) the carpet or seats/door panels… Not sure what those three black plugs are in each door jam/quarter panel side, maybe the undercoating people got a little overzealous!

And @Octonion, concur, the intake Plenum looks a little “shiny”, re: if the engine had the Nikasil cylinder liners addressed..

Ziebart System drills in, to spray those voids with sealant, a good thing on the pre galvanized cars!!

    Leaves behind those plugs..

ALL of the problem motors were addressed, or they would be fogging for mosquitoes in da' 'hood.

Anyone got a hot link to this ad rather than the posted screen shot?

In any event, this car is not a $100K example, it's the runt of the litter!!

Couple of details, fuse box cover only has GTB, should be GBTi... Early car, so maybe they didn't have them available yet? Plenum too glossy and should be wrinkle finish...many early cars came with unpainted plenums ( natural aluminum). Steering wheel spokes natural aluminum, again indication of an early production car. Later cars had black spokes.

Very early 2v injected. 1980 MY.

The unpainted silver spokes on the Nardi steering wheel, horizontal clock/oil temp gauges on the centre console and 14" wheels with XWX tires are indicators.

The Plenum would have been unpainted.....later cars had the black wrinkle finish.

She may still have original sodium valves, (Danger, Will Robinson, Danger!) and....... speedo has been changed.

The early 1980 MY 2v injected cars had a speedo that only read to 85mph (a DOT requirement at the time, designed to stop the boy racers from speeding and save on gasoline lol!)

    Proceed with caution!

Indeed, I like the guys at Algar (Ferrari of Philadelphia), I don't know if they stayed on after the sale. I do know they have a history of trying to sell older models at extreme prices. It's like they are looking for a sucker that knows absolutely nothing about the cars. Last year they brought a 512 BB to our show that looked nice. They were amazed when I pointed out all the things not original on the car. The price was about 100K over where it should have been.

What was to address about the nikasil liners?

There never was an issue with them even the engines that had them. This isn't one.

Crinkle black finish indicates an improvement in the liners? Really I am genuinely curious where you heard that.

Liners were all the same until the 4 valve.

All engines, every single one had Borgo iron liners and antique Borgo pistons until the 4 valve engines which had Mahle Pistons and Mahle nikasil liners.

    That was 83 on V8s and 85 on V12s.

I inquired about a 308 and 328 there and they were insanely overpriced. Cars looked rough too. Not sure what their sales strategy is but I was perplexed.

Oops... please strike that from my record: I was thinking the 1990's BMW M60 engine, their Nikasil liners and US sulfur fuel (or something like that..)

Thanks. Another good wives tale down the drain.

As I recall all 2V plenums were natural aluminum. The look wasn't widely liked so people painted them. The QV plenum was red wrinkle and 3.2 was red/silver.
