I'm doing some paint work on my 79 GTS US and wondering if anyone has source for body molding in picture. It is rear quarter to roof pillar. I thought at first it was silicone but in looking at it closer it appears to be a continuous strip of rubber molding.
    Thanks

    Hi Barry
To clarify, the picture you have posted is of the driver's side rear quarter panel at the roof pillar. The large panel gap at the top of the picture is the shut line of the engine cover along the roof pillar. The seam you are referring to, the lower one, is a small panel gap between the roof pillar and the rear quarter panel. To my knowledge there is no factory moulding for that gap. Most cars I have seen have this gap filled with black silicone or similar. Not sure if the factory even bothered to put some type of filler in that seam. Believe it is also an area prone to rust on the steel bodied cars. I have a fiberglass car that has the same small seam in that area. My car is gloss black, so I carefully masked along the seam and filled the gap with a very narrow bead of black silicone. There are contributors to this site much more experienced and knowledgable than myself who may know better in this regard. I look forward to their responses to your inquiry.
    Regards,
    Anthony

you can use black GE silicone - easy to get at Home Depot. Mask both sides and the ends carefully and lay down the silicone. Wear a latex glove and have a small bottle of rubbing alcohol ready. Once you lay down the silicone, dip your pointer finger in the alcohol and swipe smoothly across the silicone and it should come out nice, smooth and shiny. You can also use the Sikaflex but I think its more expensive and I am not sure you can "tool" it with alcohol like the silicone. In any case, as long as you're not leaving the car out in a monsoon, the silicone should be more than adequate for preventing water penetration while looking sharp/appropriate
