I have a 1983 Qv it starts up first time great drives (fantastic) then it will lose power/misses ? If I stop and turn it off and restart it right away it then runs fine again. I have also turned it off while traveling along and restarted it and it is back to normal/great.It seems to happen about every 3 or 4 miles.
What is odd is that it is perfect as soon as you restart it??
i have replaced the plugs, fuel filter, air filter and the fuel pump is approx a year old.
Any help would be much appreciated!

If you can get it missing when idling in your garage check all 8 plugs with a timing light. If any plug isn't firing the light won't flash when on its lead. Examine the plug extender(s) for the failing plug(s). These can give intermittent loss of spark. If in doubt you can swap them front bank to rear bank and with your timing light see it the failing plug shifts. The plug extenders can fail and are often overlooked when diagnosing problems.

Timing sensors? There's 3 of them. At a minimum, pull and clean the magnetic pick-ups.

+1 that a lot of suspicion should first be on the ignition system for an '83 K-Jet without Lambda (without the additional electrical foo of the with Lambda flavor). Running OK for a few minutes, then failing, and then being OK after shutoff and restarting can also be something thermal (i.e., takes a bit of time to heat up and cools when you shut it off). Does it always consistently "fail", and always after about the same amount of run time?

    I am not a mechanic...

Like it was said above. I had a similar issue with my Fiat. The issue was a cracked distributor cap.

With my 84 308GTS QV it was 2 cracked distributor caps and one broken coil wire.
I believe it was advice from Steve Magnusson that clued me in. Thank you sir.

Just wondering if the issue was resolved.
