Just saw a preview of Will Smith's new movie "The Pursuit of Happyness" which will be released shortly. Apparently the actor has a soft spot for Ferrari production cars as co-stars in his movies. His latest will sport none other than a red 308 GTS.
Stay tuned, it will be coming to a theater near you.

I just saw the preview and my wife said "Hey, that looks just like your car!".

Now I might just have to see the movie.

I saw it too. Nice shot on top of that.

Makes me wonder where the 308 scene is headed over the next 5 to 10 years. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm getting the feeling they're starting to slowly thin out. Every event this year (be that FCA or FOC) had less of them around than the previous years. People are getting 2nd Ferraris or more modern ones. Maybe one day even a 308 becomes a rare sight.
Just think about the 308 GT4, I think I saw just one (Schaefer's at Automobili Italiane) all year long. Compare that to the countless sightings of 355 and 360.

    <just rambling here>

Maybe people are putting them on ice, hoping they will be the next 246 Dino, with sky rocketing prices...
I knew I should have sold a kidney to get a Dino about 10 years ago....

People tend to drive their more modern car more frequently.

Well they are getting a bit more rare; even out here in 'car world LAX.' Perhaps we are seeing less because there are just less out there. Plus they are getting more expensive to maintain.
Will they be the next Dino? Probably not, but good one's, well maintained and with showroom looks will always be in demand.
Of course, like most F car's, as time goes on they generally tend to go up. Will that happen here with the 308? I think they will increase in value, but not dramatically. They made too many of them.

Of course they were one of the last all hand built cars....

Well that movie is based on a true story. I remember seeing the person (who the movie is about) on t.v. and telling the story. He ran into someone that was driving a Ferrari, and he asked him, "What do you do?" I just wonder if the guy was actually driving a 308. I would say the 308 is the universal body for Ferrari and that's why it was picked.

Well, I was just in Italy last summer and got my tour of the Ferrari factory and from what i saw, they are still all hand built there... OK, the leather cutter was computerized for cutting the leather for the interior.... But everything else was manual, compaired to other auto factories i have been in....

I wasn't sure from the preview whether the car was a GTS or a GTB. Did anyone notice?

The movie plot seems like it will be a good one to take my wife to see. It's been a long time since we went to a show together since we haven't seen any previews that appealed to both of us for quite some time.

Depending on how the movie fly's at the box office as well as winning awards will determine how much public exposure the 308 GTS/GTB series will get.

It is a GTS. Also, when the guy first pulls up the car in front of him is at least 20 feet away, but when they cut to the side shot of the Ferrari the car in front of him is now only about 3 feet away, whoops!

You may know this is based on the story of Chris Gardner...who goes
from being ok to very very poor to bottom out, but never gives up,
keeps a positive attitude and who finally succeeds. It is a very
stressful film if you have had humble beginnings. What I really liked
is it is based on what appears to be a great American story indeed.
The toughness of life at the bottom and a man’s passion to better ones
self is told well. My kid liked it, wife liked it ,Thumbs up here too.

Welcome to FChat! We can always use a movie critic around here. Particularly when it comes to movies with Ferraris.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I'm sure as hell I'll like it a lot better than Syriana. BTW: I did enjoy CARS.

I didn't see the movie but read the book and he specifically says 308 in the book. He bought a 308 later and then Jordan's Testarossa.

The best line from the article referenced earlier in the thread:

"Then fate arrived in the form of a Ferrari."
