hi, I am new to this forum. I am ready to buy my first F-car, and what I really want is a carburetted 308, preferably black. Willing to consider red, and maybe QV. Not looking for a project, so needs to be in pretty good shape, preferably with recent tining belts job.
Any leads appreciated! I am in Texas, USA, but will travel for a good one

I do realize that.....I have always had, and still have, old Italian vehicles....
I would just like to start with a solid base, and at least a good body

Gary Bobileff has a black one here in San Diego, priced in the $20K range I think. Serviced by him, which is a plus.

OK, looked at the 308 on their website. Looks like something that may work. I like the fact that is is a 79 carbed car. It is pretty high mileage though, like 80K. Asking 26.5K, is that good?

Also, someone else offered me an 80 GTSi. Now I said that I did not want a GTSi, but he claims this one has a low turbo boost, that brings up the HP to 280.....Sounds sweet, but is this a good thing to have? Downsides? Value? Offering a 31K mile car at 25K

Does a carbed car REALLY sound that much better? I guess it's time for me to go listen to a few!

For neither car I know yet whether belts have been changed recently
    Thanks for any input!!

    No.

That depends on a lot of things, including who you are going to have service it. It could get expensive fast if the turbo is 'wrong'.

    Yes, it does sound better.

I think there's a black 308 for sale in Houston, check the old threads in the TX section.
