Why do they plate the pins and clips and not just replace them with new parts? They are not designed to use them forever. Actually they should be replaced with every pad replacement. I use them twice, but then scrap them.

They were quite new, in fact only a few hundred miles old. I just threw them in the tub with all the other parts Im having plating, so nothing lost.

PMB web page indicates that the pins and clips are not easily available. Something like ATE has done a poor job of providing these as aftermarket parts or something. I didn't do search for them as mine seemed fine and I was already headed off to the plater with Guzzi parts. Martin, where do you buy new clips? Are these easily available?

    Brian,

I sourced a batch of new brake hardware some years ago, but have sold them all, except two sets for my own use.
Would have to look, whether my old source still exists.
Just found a picture of the rear ones, I used for ebay some years ago.

Thinking since this style caliper is used on cars like mid 80/90 Mercedes and Porsche the parts pictured above are available from several auto part suppliers. This is a very common caliper with a different center spacer. Just saying!

And these pins and clips are specific to that center spacer. The pads, pistons, seals and bleeders and caliper halves are not special. But the disc thickness, the caliper "spacers" and the pins and clips are apparently unique to the 308 (or at least not shared by all those Mercedes and Porsches).

The bolts holding the caliper halves together are special. The tools is available, they say $30 on amazon. The PMB webpage has a step by step guide that's worth a read whether you do it yourself or are sending them out.
