I removed the driver door on my '80GTSi.....both doors need a full restoration. This could be my "summer" project looking at the steps needed to get that accomplished.

My main restoration goal for the car, in general, is to attack and eliminate all rust. I sanded away the lower panel to reveal the bubbling rust and previous repair "patches".The lower panel needs to go bye-bye. The door needs to go bare for a media blast Brazilian cut.

I need to summon Verell's help/explanation on how to attach the lower skin at the black mid-belt line. I know the skin is folded over the inner panel on the 3 sides....but the 90 degrees turn at the top, how is it attached? Where are you welding at the beltline? Or maybe I just cut the lower panel shy of the beltline and do what Newman did on the yellow GTB (butt weld below beltline).

The purpose of this thread is a request for help.....can someone lead me to a thread that shows how to disassemble the workings of the door? How to remove the motor and cable system? How to remove the door key lock and detach it from the door lock/striker. How to remove the triangle glass? Etcetera......

The door systems look daunting.....hidden behind the sheet metal and barely accessible. Especially the door locking/striker system.....not sure how to separate key lock from door lock mechanism.

So afraid that I will not be able to put it all back together without a guide from a Ferrarichat thread!
