My 1978GT4 developed handbrake uselesness. Whats new you say. I have read all the posts and looked the diagrams. Thanks guys. I came to the conclusion that pad rotor clearance would help. After 13mm spanner, 4mm allen key, 4thou feeler used on the outer adjustment I am in trouble. The allen key does not take up the pad closer to the roter- just rotates. Feels like a thread may be stripped or may be the adjustment may have run out due to pad wear. The otherside is the same. I would really appreciate any ideas and thanks for any contribution. John

Do your rear brakes work? It sounds like something is stripped. You'll need to pull the calipers and rebuild/reset the hand brake assembly. It's not a difficult job and the parts aren't hard to get. If the brakes work then use the car until you either put it up for winter or you decide to fix it. Check with a mirror to see if the allen head is stripped. I assume you got the plugs out OK.

Thanks Steve. Covers came off Ok. Brakes appear to work OK with pedel. The diagrams I see on F Chat seem to be a little different to what Ive got. Where is the thread the pin screws into? Is it in the body of the caliper,or buried inside. Finally have you a source for repaire kits? John
