OK...pathetic newbie question here.......The headlights on my 308 are VERY dim...so I bought replacements today. There is a diagram in the manual that shows a very basic pic of the assembly....and removing the cover is easy....but not how to remove the lamps....do they come out the front, or the back? can anyone explain which screws, brackets, etc... I need to remove please? a pic would be awesome if anyone happens to have one.
    Thanks!

I just did one a couple of days ago. Here's what I did:

    1) raise headlight buckets
    2) remove bucket relays so that you can turn off the lights & buckets stay up
    3) remove the top cover (4 screws)
    4) unscrew the 4 screw on the side that hold the remaining cover on
    5) slide the remaining cover forward so that you can access the retaining ring around the headlight
    6) loosen the 3 retaining screws that hold the headlight in (holes in the retaining ring are slotted with one end larger)
    7) rotate retaining ring so that the larger end is over the screw head, this will allow you to remove the retaining ring
    8) remove headlight.

    Good luck

The factory headlight wiring is part of the headlight brightness problem. It's a long run from the bulbs up to the relay panel & then back to the battery.

Adding a harness with relays close to the bulbs & short fused runs directly to the battery has been found to make a big difference. There were several threads a few years ago, including links to harness sources. Search the Tech Q&A archives & the old fchat archives for: headlight harness relay
