The black "cover" of my headlight stalk popped off and when I put it back on the stalk it feels loose – like its not on "all the way" (it feels like it should be a tighter fit).

Is there an INTERNAL ball bearing or any kind of circlip that holds the cover onto the stalk? (my stalk has the external clip that snaps onto the cover.

And "cover" I mean the thing you twist to turn the lights on that has both a headlight and arrow icons.

    My car: 1976 GTB

    THX!

    (I need a parts book!)

Thanks. I looked at those threads - my issue is different (and seemingly, a LOT simpler). I'll post some photos so it will be easier to understand.

Yes, there is a ball bearing trapped inside the switch. Creates the click detent. Needs to be in there. Yours might have popped out...

Re-installing the ball bearing in the stalk is difficult. I made a simple tool that helps a lot.

I used a piece of aluminum that I put a detent into it using a center punch. This keeps the ball bearing on top of the spring while you push it into the recess and then push the stalk down on the pivot.
