Can any one tell me if the heater/vent controls on their 308, see pic.. Can be re chromed. They are made out of plastic and the chrome is flaking off. At $104.00 + taxes each (Canadian) that is about $500.00 to replace all 4. Just wondering if any one else is having the same problem.

    Thanks in advance...

    Hi Axel,

There are 2 ways of plating plastic. The OEM Ferrari way was to vaccum bag a chrome layer to the handles. I experienced this when I had my Alfa Romeo where the rear tail light housings would flake over time. The other way is to chrome them using the usual electroplate bath method. There are very few places that do this and most chroming shops will tell you that plating plastic is impossible. NOT SO. You are in luck that there is a place in Toronto (one of the few in North America) that plate plastic. I'm sure they can do it for you. The place is called Leader Plating on Plastics. I don't still have their number but the guy to ask for is Lou Roman. He is the president. He will probably not remember me but I plated all the plastic on my Alfa there back in 1994. Good luck with it.

    Thanks
I will look him up. By the way, very nice job on the Brake/suspension rework. I have been busy with 308 AC mods.. Sanden compressor, twin Hayden fans wiring relays ect ect. We met at a Bimmer fest a few years ago..I had the M6 and my brother the Black 3.0csi with turbo and intercooler..Take care

Sorry, Fiat may have vacuum sputtered their stuff, but Ferrari used true triple chrome for the lever bezels. I make exact reproductions & dissected a couple of failed OEM ones. You can sand the OEM ones at a very small angle to the surface with 1000 grit and see the chrome/ nickel/ copper layers.

This place did quite a few lever bezels for me a couple of years ago. They advertise in one of the bigger name auto magazines. Hemmings I think.

I was very happy with their quality. They put a nice heavy triple coat of copper/nickel/chrome on the parts. Parts were substantially heavier when done! Price was about $30 lever bezel as I recall. They were slow, 4 or 5 weeks turnaround as I recall, but I was ordering during their peak season also.

Pretty sure they did my lever bezels pictured in this thread:

Tell Jeff that Verell Boaen of Unobtainium Supply recommended you.

I've been using another company, but they seem to have totally disappeared late last year. Will probably send next batch to Jeff again.
