Who here uses them and where did you get them? Also, what brand are they?
Hank, Do you know about these?: http://ricambiamerica.com/product_info.php?cPath=175&products_id=205&osCsid=25416580c8f1c041ad4d807f09bff072
i have considered purchasing hyper-flow cats for my 308. their website claims the cats flow 95% or so, which means they are close to test pipes. i think they run about $750 each, and you need two, i think. i've resisted buying them only because i wonder how much of a difference they will make (not sure of bang for buck). i was hoping to avoid test pipes because of the gas smell. there is always the possibility of buying used hyperflow cats. john
Make sure you get METAL matrix, rather than ceramic matrix. It's the metal matrix that gets that 95% flow of test pipes. I had a test pipe on my 308QV, and changed to a Hyperflow CAT. Sounds the same, revs the same, but the exhaust no longer smells so strong! I'm very happy I made the change.
Henry, If you're interested in Hyperflows look here : www.eugeniosferrariservice.com Check out the performance section. Price listed is for a 308QV (single cat) BTW. You may need to inquire about your car which requires two cats. FWIW
Sorry, I kind of messed up my last post. Here are the magnaflows I found for $65: http://performance.drivewire.com/exhaustsystem/ferrari308gtscatalyticconverter.html
What's the deal in So Cal? In your profile you list a 78...wouldn't that be exempt from emisions by now? Or is it if that car came with cats, it needs to continue to have cats? Did 78 have cats?
Nope. Used to have a rolling 30 year exemption, but that has since gone away. The only ones currently exempt are '73 and earlier. Here in So. Cal. we also have to do the stage II testing where the emissions are tested while the car is on rollers. It's tested at 15mph & 25mph. Yes, US '78s came with two cats. I don't mind though 'cause I also like to breathe clean air.
