For my stripped-down 308 track car, had my trusty mechanic pull out the oft-kneed blinker/turn signal stalk assembly and had him replace the switchgear with heavy-duty toggles from Pegasus Racing. These toggles have male connectors just like the stock Ferrari switches (not the flimsy little screws).

ISSUE #1: For the headlights, I have a two-place toggle to put the frog lamps up/down and a three-place toggle for High Beam/Off/Low beam.

While this car's night-time driving duty will be rare and seldom, as luck would have it, I had to drive the car in about 40 minutes of post daylight savings time darkness a couple evenings ago.

Anyway, the relays for the lights began to make a lot of clicking noise, seems like it was in the three relays for the up/down function. There are relays for right, left, and then a third relay that is for both of them (don't ask me, I just work here). Again, these are for the bucket up/down movement only, not the lights themselves (if memory serves me).

Are the relays rebelling against my new toggle switches? Is there something that could have been overlooked when the wiring was re-routed over to these switches? What's the deal?! Take the wires from one switch, move them to another switch: seems basic to me.

But at least these two functions work (for now), unlike...

    ISSUE #2:
The toggles installed for the Hazard, Turn Signals and Wipers all worked great for a couple days and now they do nothing (again, no blown fuses, no melted wires, all new relays).

My mechanic did a great, pro job, at least visually – the heavier amp loads are wired with the correct heavier gauge wire, etc.

FYI: Wew Birdman fuse blocks installed; no blown fuses; all-new relays from Rock Auto; 1976 pre-computer anything carbed 308.

Any advice from you electrical geniuses would be helpful!

    Thanks,

    Pen

Sounds like a wire has come off and is possibly grounding to the switch to operate the headlight doors. Have your mechanic take a look.

Firstly I am no electrical genius, but I am doing the same with my Mondial.

With the first problem, do you have a toggle switch to lift the lights and another two turn them on, or odes one switch do the whole thing lift & lights on, I was wondering if when you turn the stalk on the original switch it briefly flicks something on to lift the light pods, then the next part of the switch will actually turn the lights on, I was wondering if by using a toggle switch if it is lifting them and turning on at the same time but the lifting part isn't switching off so its continually clicking the relays.

I don't know what to say on your second problem, I replaced my hazard switch for a toggle switch this week, there was about 12 wires going into the connector on the bottom of the switch and some branched off to things like the ashtray lights etc..., I removed all the wires one by one until I got down to just four wires that needed triggering in pairs, I got a Dpst toggle switch and it is perfect, when I was removing the wires I did them one by one writing down what I was doing as I was going along until I got it right
