This is also posted in the 308 section but perhaps a quicker response will be had here...

I have eight new nozzles ready to go into my 308, but I'm curious how these are supposed to come out, as I've read that there are snap rings, etc...that hold them in but I see nothing of the sort on my car. So I assume a tug should pop them out right? Sorry for the crappy pic, my Treo was all I had handy to take a photo with!

    Cheers,

Hard to tell from that pic mate, but can you put a spanner on that nut and see what it does? It may loosen them. They may even wind out, if you know what I mean? I cant really see a snap ring in there either, but the pic is average. :):)

Yep, all you need to do is unscrew the injector with a 12mm wrench. I took mine out earlier today to see if I have a dripper. I'm having a warm start problem so to check for a leaking nozzle seems to be the easiest place to start. Onward...

    Hi Lou:
Do you still need some steel injectors? I have eight that I have been saving for you.
Give a call if you are interested--you can have them.

    I recognize those injector pix!!!

Yes- you can just screw out the entire thing (three pieces- the injector, rubber seal, and threaded mounting cup thingy). There are no snap rings, or o-rings with this set-up. The o-ring is molded into the rubber seal. A few of mine fell apart while pulling the injector out of the rubber- so I bought new ones from T-Rutlands. Be careful when removing, because when you wrench on the injector, if the cup is stuck to the intake manifold at all, you can strip the hex hole in the cup and the injector will just spin. Ask me how I know.....

Spray with a little PB Blaster the night before to loosen things up a bit.

When you put the cups back in- use a little anti-sieze on the threads.

    Good luck-

So once the injector cup is out, how does one remove the nozzle from it? I'll be heading up to see Dennis McCann today and am wondering if I should get the new black seals that go 'inside' the cup?

The injector and seal will come out of the cup as a unit, it's just a friction fit between the seal and cup. Then, just lay the seal/injector on an appropriate sized socket and push out the injector.

I would replace all 8 seals if you are buying parts anyway. That way, you know are good to go without airleaks. When I did mine, the new seals were much more difficult/tighter to install in the cup than how the old ones came out. I used a little Marvel Mystry Oil to ease the process.
