Finally, after 17-months (yes WAY to long) my car breathed fire again this weekend. First I had the front bank 180° out and the expected flames shot the carbs. My 9yr old said "Is THAT supposed to happen?"...Got that fixed and it fired right up like I'd just switched it off yesterday. The most embarrassing thing is how few things got done. The big hold up was my exhaust headers. The recent econic down turn left me short of funds so I had to basically wait to put everything back n the car until I got those done up. Just a short list Remove Radiator clean/test 30k Service (belts/bearings, seals, gaskets, etc.) Replace accessory belts. New Plugs Replace Transmission and Engine pan gaskets and new nyloc nuts Remove AC system and replace AC lines front to back Remove Exhaust and remove shields. Jet-Hot coat exhaust headers, new nuts and gaskets. Sand blast and repaint cooling tank Remove front valence and fix holes in underside. Repaint underside black (still need to finish). Sand down rust underneath front end area and repaint black. Rebuilt Alternator (shop here in Houston does FOH stuff - $150 and it pulled plent of amps) Still To do. RR all AC components (everything's out and I'm going to the local shop next week to get new parts - already did the Sanden conversion). This will be an upgrade to the evap coil, possibly condensor, new hoses, new fittings, new dryer and expansion valve, new fans, etc. The AC is actually what started this whole project to begin with and it of course snowballed into much more. Future Projects in order of preference; Suspension (new bushings, shocks, springs, etc.) Rebuild calipers and SS brake lines. New 16" or larger wheels. Strip and re-dye seats or possibly replace leather with new (really like that Daytona Pattern - anyone have a good pick as I can't find one). Brake Upgrades Body work - cut fix rust and have a repaint completed. Just want to share in the happiness that my car is actually running agian.
