I've done a search of the forum and found a useful diagram for the placing of jack stands but cannot find any definitive guidance on where to place a single trolley jack under the rear to get the car to the height where jack stands can be used. Any help appreciated.

I use the lower right in the diagram with my jack just at the frame joint. If you can't get it under then use a 2x6 under the rear wheels as a ramp, then place the jack stands.

Just to clarify my remarks...that's 2x6 under the wheels to give clerance to get a jack under the car...then place each stand under the points ;)

I guess a "trolley jack" is the same thing we call a floor jack in the US.

Actually, I'm scared schitless to work under a car with just jackstands...going back to work in a couple of weeks and a car lift is one of the wishlist items I'm going to buy with my "allowance" :)

Thanks, I wasn't sure it was ok to jack the car on just one side. Thought it might be better to place the jack in a central position, assuming there was somewhere on the car this could be done.

Just make sure you don't use the middle of crossmembers or you risk tweaking the frame. Notice on the diagram all of the jack points are where there are 2 members intersecting.

Looks like a great accessory IF the two pads will adjust down to the level of the beams. If they are fixed where they are shown in the picture, you are going to be several inches short of getting them under the rear frame (more than a 2 x 6 under the wheels).

I think you'd be hard-pressed to get it under the frame even if the pads are adjustable. Certainly not under the nose.

better have that sucker centered dead nuts on the floor jack and i would be very very concerned about rocking inducing torsion into the floor jack head for which its not designed. Looks like a nightmare waiting to happen

I don't think they would ever have to worry about that as I don't see any way in hades that thing is going to fit under the car even if adjustable without some extracurricular work (driving up on some ramps or several 2X4s). Lol, this is a Ferrari site not a jeep site. My normal floor jack just barely fits under there. I see this as a waste of $80.

This is good for everyone to see. I have seen many 308/328 with the bottom of panels crunched because the car was jacked in the wrong spots. Stay under the frame like the diagram. Body panels don't support the car well!

I saw one that was picked up with a large forklift. Poor things bottom was a mess. Seams had been flattened and rocker panels dented. Otherwise not a bad car.

You'd be amazed how easily you can bend this back. Both side of mine were that way. I just reached under with my hands and pulled them back out til they were straight....didn't even have to break out the hammer.

    Viper_Dvr,

I'll send you a photo of mine when I get back home to Germany and get your "read" on my damage and what you think can be done.

Mine is a bit worse than your pics show (I think) but not a whole lot.
