[308] Larini exhaust

Wanted to post an update on my exhaust chronicle. Kind of an involved story but to make it short, through miscommunication between Larini’s former US distributor and Larini, I rec'd an extra quiet exhaust instead of their sports exhaust. I was going to post a sound clip after installing, but was so disappointed in the sound that I didn't bother. It was actually quieter than the replaced muffler. Upon reading one of my rather unflattering posts, Neil Macauley of Larini emailed me that he would sent out their true sports exhaust free of charge, overnight from the UK! Finally got it installed and there’s a decided difference! A deeper, throatier note, along with a more hollow (in a good way) sound. There’s also an underlying deep bass tone and the signature Ferrari scream at higher revs. Sounds great on the road too, doesn’t have a boomy sound making conversation difficult. The more I drive it the better it sounds. Took it out for some spirited driving recently and came to a stop and it sounded louder at idle with a deeper note. There was a thread once discussing sound changes in new mufflers.

Larini makes a high quality product at a reasonable price and they definitely stand behind their product. I was going to wait until I had some sound clips but decided to go ahead and post now and update later. Hopefully I can get round to it before you have to decide. I don't have a video camera, which seems to record clearer sound that my digital camera.

 

Not sure if it was stock or after market. Are you trying to find it?
