The time has come to replace all the coolant hoses on my QV, since one burst last week in a rather spectacular way. I'm more than half way through the job and need to tackle the dreaded heater hose that runs from front to back inside the rocker panel. I've searched the archives, and haven't really found the info that I'm looking for, which is, primarily what are the gotchas on this job. Any hints from anyone who has BTDTGTTS? The removal of the ledt tank looks like a real ***** to do, especially dealing with the filler hose. I do have the tanks drained, and new 1 3/8 ID hose for the crossover pipe, and 2 1/8 hose for the filler. I'm definitely going to replace the former, and if I can and the replacement hose fits, would like to replace the latter as well. Of course I'm using Gates Green Stripe for all the coolant and heater hoses ... Any words of wisdom would be appreciated ... TIA, Jeff
There is a fairly long thread detailing this procedure in depth. The tips are very useful. I did the job alone, and it is a tough one.
Why do you have to remove the gas tank? You can undo the two straps, push the tank out of the way, and you can manuver the hoses. Carmine
