Anyone know where I can get a reasonably high resolution line drawing of a 308 like the following below? (This came from the 308 parts manual pdf but it's crappy resolution.)

Why, you ask? Well, I want to make a cool 308 T-shirt with a line drawing of a 308 on the back and the 308 script on the front. A line drawing silkscreens nicely.

(Yeah, I know, copyright issues, but I doubt Ferrari cares if I make a couple T-shirts for some friends. Besides, they won't have the Ferrari logo on them, that would be too obvious. These are for Connessiuer!)

I have a high definition reprint of the QV/328 supplement with a good quality pic of the line drawing below. I'll be happy to scan it at whatever resolution you want and e-mail it to you. you will note that it is actually a 208, but you can edit the lower NACA ducts out of the pic if you wish.

I took a photo of my car (back in the FILM days), scanned it into my computer, and then use CorelDraw to create vector art on top of the photo, then deleted the photo. I've done that for number of Ferraris... it makes for interesting artwork. This first one below is "car art" I also did from my 308. The 360 was done the same way -- from a photo. Then there's a couple of "outline concepts" I also did from photos, which I use in my helmet painting.

I could probably turn the 308 picture into a black and white if that will do what you want. Or I could modify it to actually match YOUR car. Or I could just do a fresh line art rendering so I'd have it...

    Mike,
The 360 and 355 are both fantastic. What I'm trying to do is use some artwork that is basically just lines and high contrast (no shading or gradients) so it will silkscreen better. I also like those very minimalist 355 drawings towards the bottom. I would love to see some 308 stuff like that, but I don't want to impose upon you. Nonetheless, should you get the inclination, I think we could certainly use something like that. And I guess I would owe ya a couple shirts!!

If you'll scan the 308 (208) at the highest resolution your scanner will do, I'll use that to create a vector version of the line art.

I'll be glad to do it, either from Bandit's image or from scratch. I'm going to be in Seattle for a couple of weeks, but I can do it when I get back.

Scanned and sent to both of you. If Mike can do vector art from the image, I think that would be your best bet. There really would be quite a bit of editing to get it in good enough shape for a t-shirt silkscreen.

Thanks to Mike B's quick work, here's a screenshot of the vector image done with CorelTrace, then edited to remove the naca duct and the shadow (either of which can be put back in). As a CorelDraw vector image, it can now be scaled to ANY size (even billboard) without getting "jaggies". Ultimately, I want to do a little more cleanup...

Bridman -- sorry, can't help with a drawing, but any chance you might make an extra shirt or two to sell to a fellow 308-driving Fchatter?

By the way, I may order your fuseblocks soon -- but first I need to read the various relevant threads (any specific place I should start?)

    Cheers,
    J.

Sure, if we can come up with a decent design!

Mike, that first pass on the vector looks fantastic! Now if I can be a pain, any way to raise the wheels, particularly the front, to make the car look a little lower? (It will look meaner!)

Also, for the front of the shirt, I was thinking of having it say:

    308
    GTB
    GTS

Using the funky 308 logo script. Can you vectorize and clean the logos too by any chance??

This is a quicki & dirty of what I had in mind for the front of the shirt, on the left breast. The back would be just the line drawing of the car. The point would be that this shirt doesn't scream Ferrari. You have to know what it is.

Great, thanks. I think your front/back logo script idea is great. If it comes together, would you put them on white shirts? (I was thinking grey would look great, for example...)

Anyway, thanks for your (and Mike's and everyone else working on this) initiative and efforts!

I was thinking either black shirts with white or red screening or red shirts with white or black screening. Red shirts are the natural color but I find that a red shirt is often too attention grabbing. Black shirts are better looking, but can be hot to wear outside. Gray is an idea possibly....?

I'm open to thoughts. I see no reason why we couldn't do a run of two different colored shirts, but I definitely want to limit the options to only two. Gets too confusing beyond that.

Once we have a design, I will work up a shirt mockup in a couple colors.

Problem with a red shirt is it could "bleed". You may end up with pink underwear...

White shirts can sometimes look like undershirts. I like gray with a red 308 outline...just my $.02

Sorry guys -- think maybe my prior post was a bit confusing. What I also meant was that I would personally prefer NOT a white shirt. Birdman, I agree that red is too attention grabbing, and this is meant to be a more subtle shirt. My own personal thought, a semi-dark grey (not like sweatpants grey, more like gunmetal grey) with white or black lines/lettering. That would look GREAT.

    Again, thanks for the work...

I agree fully. Grey is a nice subtle color that matches anything. The problem is that white or black on such a shirt may be hard to see. You might have to go with red screening. We can cross that bridge when we get to it.
