Hello all, First I want to say that I read this Tech Section every chance I get and really appreciate all the info I get out of this forum. Thanks. I just had my original rims re-done and new Michelin TRX tires balanced and was curious if anyone could tell me if the lug nuts are standard or specific to the 308. Mine are kinda banged up and it would be a shame to put new rims and new tires on her with "rough looking" lug nuts. Does anyone know where to find new ones or is it easier to have the old ones re-finished also? Thank you, Jesse
Hill Engineering has the best price I've found for new lug bolts: http://www.customferrariparts.com/homemainferrari.htm click on "Wheel Bolts"
Take my word, bro. They are quite expensive. IMO I'd investigate replating with a local plater, it's got to be easier. I bought a set used for $275.00US, to mount my new stock wheels. They are actually bolts of course, not nuts. (10) short, (10) long.
I'll probably have to see about getting them redone then. Even at Hill Engineering prices, all 20 would be $300 + shipping. Thanks again for the info guys. Jesse
That's $300 minus the $150~$200 you could sell your used set for Please do post price/time hassle/quality if you replate -- it would be a good data point in the archieve. Now if it was for L27 each -- I'm with ya, but at L8 you undervalue your time IMO
True, I didn't think about re-selling the used ones. Now that you mention it, I'll have 5 extra original 14" rims when I have the new ones put on. Not to mention the 2 used 308 doors (no windows), and some other items...hmm thanks for pointing that out. Jesse
Their web site is a little different than the last time I checked but www.ecstuning.com is where I got some new bolts for my 80 308. The ones I got where non-chrome and about $5.00 each. I've got aftermarket wheels so the non-chrome isn't an issue for me but it's a place to look.
