Hi, This is going to be a long post with lots of pics. I've own a 1985 308 QV for 12 years. Done several Majors myself. Clutch started to go. My house is up a 1/4 mile dirt road. During the summer (driving) months, the road turns to dust. Driving even at 10 mph causes a James Bond style dust "smoke screen". Cars quickly get filthy and my engine bay is terrible. This year the town decided to pave the dirt road, so would be a good time to clean everything up. Decided to try and document my efforts. Goals of the project are : - New Clutch - Major service. It's been 4 years. - Clean up the engine bay (and car in general) - Change all the hoses - Any other "while your there" type items.....
My trolley jack doesn't actually fit under the car because it's too low, so I have to start off with the Tool Kit Jack Image Unavailable, Please Login
i like to collect all the parts in freezer bags. with labels. going to need alot of them.... Image Unavailable, Please Login
remove the washer fluid bottle. One electrical connection and the hose pops off Image Unavailable, Please Login
next need to get the rear wheel wells out. They are held in by a bunch of bolts. Image Unavailable, Please Login
you have to flex them to get them out. Be careful not to flex them too much.... Image Unavailable, Please Login
you don't really need to take the front ones out, but i'm going to. The don't come out as one unit, but two. There is a rear facing part which comes out, and a front facing part. This is the rear Image Unavailable, Please Login
i'm glad i took these off now, because i've noticed this. There are fans on the front of the car which blow air into the car for tempurature control. You can see in this picture that one of my fans has snapped off it's mounting. Guess it's just been rattling around in there, which can't be good.... Image Unavailable, Please Login
behind the drivers side front wheel well, you can see these two hoses. (under the windscreen wiper pump). These two hoses come from the engine bay. One is the brake servo hose, and the other is coolant for the interior heat. Might try and replace these later.... Image Unavailable, Please Login
on the passenger side, there are the two hoses for the A/C. My AC has never worked, so probably won't replace these.... Image Unavailable, Please Login
next up drain the coolant. Under the car, more or less under where your feet would go if you were sat in the car, there is a panel which you need to remove... Image Unavailable, Please Login
this is what is under the panel. You have to disconnect those hoses to drain the coolant. Image Unavailable, Please Login
at the back of the car, there is a panel to remove also. You can see if here connecting to the exhaust heat shield Image Unavailable, Please Login
