Mike over at Ferrari service costa mesa.

just an FYI changing synchros in the 308 is a BIG job. lots of hrs there. I haven't tried to pull the main and layshaft with the engine attached to the case but it may be doable without pulling the lump and splitting them, but what a PITA that job would be.

I just finished going thru another 328 gearbox, that makes 4 this yr so far! got a call the other week from a gent who has 2 boxes and wants to send both over and make one good one from them.

Question: why replace 2nd gear synchro? These cars are always hard to shift into 2nd when cold, but loosen up fine when warm. Is your 2nd gear troublesome even after everything's warmed up?

    Cheers,
    Rich

I think Mike need more of the synchro ring because it grinds weather it's cold or warm and it only happens in 2nd gear.
