ok. My 308 now runs, sorta. thanks for all the help. My issue now is that it just has a miss on 2 cylinders, appearing to be 1 & 4 on the back bank towards the rear of the car.

at about 4500 rpm it cleans up and comes out of the miss state, or appears to. I have ohmed the TDC sensors, both equal about 765 ohms. just for fun the rpm one ohms at 865.

I have new cap, new rotors, new plugs, new extenders. Tried two different brands of plugs, presently has bosh supers, though the NGK's did the same results.

cam timing off? Is there a timing mark set someone can share to proof this? Car was bought not running.

compression was between 175 & 180 on each of the cyl.

has slight miss at idle too, at least compared to my other f-cars.

ready to throw it out the window....

    Back to basics:

Check the wires and extenders and while you are at it, make sure that #1 and #4 ARE correct, I would certainly look at that in my analysis.

although, because I don't have a history on this car, my diagnostic would start with a mechanical check, cam timing, cylinder leakage. Visual of wiring, plugs, caps, rotors etc.

We can internet diagnose but you will spend many hours (sounds as though you already have!) chasing things down. just my $0.02.

I had this problem on one of my 308s. Originally my miss was due to a little oil down in the spark plugs causing arcing. Another time on the same car, i decided to remove the fast idle circuit completely as was done on my other 308 (by a dealer) and in the process disconnected the wires to the thermal sw. in the coolant tank. Ran like ****e. But it was so bad it wouldn't even drive. So i simply reconnected the wires at the tank and it was fine. It did not make much sense as my other 308 the wires were not connected.

I had a miss that took a while to find and it was bad plug wires. They were Cavis and only 2 years old or so. I replaced with Dave Helms wires and solved my problem. I also went through my caps, rotors, extenders, and replaced the plugs.
