    One thing that I usually always replace in previous cars I worked on are the engine mounts; From what I can see in that oily gunk under my 308 engine it is hard to tell what condition these things are in. Is the rubber inside the round metal casing?
    How often do you guys usually change them?

    Thanks,
    Helmut

    Hmmm, My engine is out of my car. I never really inspected the part since they appeared to be in good condtion. If you like, I can cruise by the shop and give you some feedback on the parts design and maybe some pictures if you need. If no one can answer your question then PM me and Ill do this for you.

    Thanks very much for your offer! I am about to pull the engine from my 308 as well and am just wondering if that is something that should be replaced but since they have that metal cover it may be hard to tell what condition they are in;

    If you find out anything from your mechanic, may be you can pass the info along that would be great.

    Thanks,
    Helmut

    Sure, no problem. I'll try to snap a photo of top and bottom of one if I can. I know top for sure, but I think 2 are still mounted in the car and two still on the motor itself. Its hard for me to recall, but I'll check it out and let you know in the next couple days.

    Great, Thanks very much. I am just curious how to determine when they need to be replaced since it is hard to see what condition the rubber is in.

    Thanks!

    Hey bud. I cruised by the shop yesterday and took a look at the motor mounts, like I promised. Yeah, there is a black rubber ring on the underside. I tried to snap some shots, not realizing I forgot to charge my battery on the camera so the flash wouldn't work. I apologize. I did however do my weekly search for 308 parts on Ebay and ran across a listing that was exactly what I could have photoed for you. Check out the link and let me know if you have any questions and I will try my best to sum it up for you, but I think its pretty self explanitory.

    Hi Muteki, thanks for all your effort.
    I have never seen mounts like that before on any other car that are actually inside a metal housing, I guess once I take them off my car I will be able to tell whether or not they need to be replaced.

    Thanks again,.

    No problem, but from the design of them, the only way to tell is to remove them. Mine were perfect according to my mechanic, so lets hope you have the same results.
