I could never find a cross reference on the stat, and BAP Geon had nothing like it (the plunger seal on the shaft)

I ended up at Ferrari of Houston for the stat, triangle gasket, and o ring seal

I will bet a dollar against a doughnut it does not open before 212......

For the love of god! Went to O’reily to get the hose since I had to cut the old one open. Paid $18 for a Gates one they cut to the same size. Damn thing doesn’t fit. I’ve tried grease and soap to no avail. What size do I get? I brought the old one to O’reily and they sized it up. It’s a 1 3/8 ths. Also got the new thermostat. When I hear the old one off I can’t see any movement even when water is boiling. What am I looking for with the new one That is, should it expand and become longer or should it contract and become shorter?

You want about 38mm (I believe that's the true correct size); Gates 1 5/8 is 41mm, and a close fit.

Gates Greens stripe 24226 (1-5/8”) then I cut it to all the ‘short’ strait coolant hoses.

Found the hose at Napa. New thermostat in. Took forever for the thing to come up to temperature with the new one. Ended up having to put the car at idle to get the temp to get close to halfway. Finally the fans came on. All good . Thanks for all the responses! Oh, and look, hardly got dirty. :)

    LOL...….Looking good!

I actually was asking if the thermostat was found at NAPA. I tried Bap Geon, and they could not find it, I gave up and paid $300 at Ferrari of Houston.

Thanks Alan. Got the thermostat on ebay with the seal and rubber housing for $100. The hardest part of the whole thing was getting the fender liner back in. Just didn't want to go. Now it's coils for the BMW and injectors for the Z. Maybe one day I'll get to that darn fence project. Oh, and the Tundra Needs the front diff needle bearing replaced. I'm hoping to buy a garage condo and decorate it as well as display my video games and slot car tracks in the loft there. Add a few more cars too. Now if this pandemic would just end I could fix my cars the old fashioned way; with my wallet! :) . Thanks again and cheers.

    on the first page

when I put a new stat in my ex 308 20+ years ago I think I got one for a fiat X19. Difference is it doesn't have the thick (ceramic ?) washer thingy. My 308 survived for 20 years till I sold it just fine.

Didn't think to get it. The guy behind the counter couldn't find in the computer so he took my thermostat housing, went in the back and came out with one that fit.
