I've got an 81 308 GTB, US spec. Its got about 36k miles and is in very nice condition. It usually runs very well, however, lately it occasionally stumbles or hesitates a bit while cruising. I'll be driving about 4-5k(rpm) and it will just hesitate once or twice and then run normally. Almost feels like a fuel feed issue. Any ideas? Thanks

It could be one of many things. Is the fuel old or purchased from a no-name gas station? Some Techron wouldn't hurt- just add it to the gas. Maybe some added dri-gas too would help. Might be the fuel filter.

But, I would check the spark first- it's a little easier.

Check the 8 spark plug extenders first. They connect the plug wires to the spark plug. Look at all of them to see if any look burned, cracked, or different from the others. Just gently pull on the plug leads to get to them; they are long black cone-shaped plastic things. Also look at the clips that are inside the extenders. They snap onto the ends of the plugs.

Pull the spark plugs and check their condition. Replace them if there is any question of condition or age.

Also, check the condition of the distributor caps, and rotors. You need to pull the caps to do this. It could also be a failing plug wire.

Another problem could be the ignition sensors on the flywheel. Does the tach go crazy when your car stumbles?

I would start there, and then move on to other possible fuel issues.

    good luck- jwise

I'm thinking spark or fuel too... I hope so. Best of luck.

Mine did this too, check the ground wire on the digiplex units and add a new one (can't hurt). This solved my problem and cost me about $1.00.

Use the search function by typing in digiplex, or ground wire and it should come up.

    Good luck.
