Not at all mate. I think its fantastic that you are looking. But the 308 bashing on here is just silly.

These are now approaching 25-30 yr old cars. WHen you get a 30K 308....expect 30K....thats all im saying....the reaosn why everyone beats done these cars is because the majority of them are dead. Newman with his big mouth up top had to restore his car because it had 160,000 miles on it....

I seem to find that most people cutting these cars down either have very worn cars, or are in the market for one. Of course, whe your in the market you need to beat down the car...i dare any of you to go into the Boxer, or Dino or 599 threads and start saying that those cars are worth less than the reported asking prices (see what you get ;) )......can you find a 308 for 30K, of course you can....but you cannot compare a 30K 308, to the one you listed for 75K..........just do the math on fixing a 308 (or any ferrari) for that matter that sells cheap...see if you can make it like a pristine one that maybe for sale for double the money.....

Look at 5 308s now that you are shopping, go physically look at the and touch them.....tell us what you find from the 27K-50K range...and report back your thoughts...i would be most interested to hear your findings and the difference.....PS...check to see if the tool kit, and books and warrenty card comes with the cars you are looking at.

Good luck in your search !

Unfortunately, owning a 308 doesn't put anyone in an "elite" anything. I wish it would but my little beloved 308 just isn't one of the big dogs yet.

Personally, the elite bunch are those with Ferrari's between 1947 and about 1972.

    An enzo isnt elite?

Its all relative, my boxer is a weenie compared to a lusso if you look at it that way but owning a ferrari is something exclusive relative to the rest of the cars on the planet.

Yes and no actually. The newer E-X-P-E-N-S-I-V-E Ferraris are sometimes too much associated with the status owner. For example, that jerk that tossed his Enzo keys to another idiot who drove it straight into a concrete barrier. I saw the video and heard the comments and scattered laughter here and there. That's someone with too much money and too little of my respect. He is not an "elite" owner. He is an *******.

Think that same thing would happen to a Lusso?

The old guy with the NART Spider that bought it new and will never sell... That's elite.

By the way, Your Boxer really belongs in the elite catagory too. People who buy those do so for what it is, as they should.

Of course this is just my opinion.

Personally I would never pay 2-3x for any car who's sole claim to fame is low mileage. That car cannot be driven, but a 20k 308 that's "okay" which you put $20k into will be a much better car for everyone except those who keep their cars in the bedroom. So the odometer says 58k miles instead og 5k. That's worh money to someone for some cars, but not a 308. Yet.

Well, Big Red, looks like your attutude is spilling out into other areas of the used auotmotible world. Everyone that knows me around here knows my love for the VW Scirocco especially the first generation. I have an 80 model that I got as a Junior in High School way back in Aug 85. I have put, probably $25,000 in it since the fall of 2001 just resoring and modifying it. I have always said it was a million dollar VW simply because it would take that to get me to let it go even though it has a value of about $900 on paper.

    Well...

Scirocco was an awesome car . I had a GTI but wished i'd had the Scirocco. I remember this nerdy guy in Jr. high asking me to come over his house for a party one weekend and the only reason i went was to check out his dads Scirocco. I sat in it if for an hour just checking it out.

    Now back to the discussion....

    LMAO!

As for the VW, A freind of mine had one and we used to go to highschool in it. I have fond memories of the car too and agree they were and still are a great car. I remember some front valance he bought for it, it was called a nassua panel or something like that, we always laughed at the name but it looked ok on the car. He had an accident in it at then end of the school year and our buddy in the back popped the side window out with his head in the crash, the glass stayed in one piece, lol. The car was wrecked though.
