Does this seem high for a 308? I am not complaining!...
Does this seem high for a 308? I am not complaining! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SUPERB-1985-308-GTS-QV-USA-ALWAYS-PAMPERED_W0QQitemZ4627348971QQcategoryZ6212QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Major service 5 years ago. It's going to need $3,000 to $4000 service done next year or sooner depending on comfort level with service intervals. $42,000 seems high for 39,000 mile car. Are those DOT track tires? Nice clean car otherwise.
So would my 83 with only 30k miles get about the same if I were to sell it? I am getting the major done this spring after that what would it be worth?
I don't know....with the belts needing attention, you're in 328 range here. That's a high price for a car that needs minor attention and may need things not listed, like a water pump. Ken
Looks like it! They look like Yokohama A032Rs. My opinion would be that would be a great tire for the 308. Great street grip in the dry, decent enough in the wet (i.e...be careful, but you won't go sliding off the first corner.) Who drives their 308 GTS in the rain much anyway? A032Rs make great fair weather street tires.. On track though they leave a bit to be desired compared to Toyo, Hoosier, Pilot Sport Cups, etc...
Me Have done both dry and wet track with the Mich PS2, but for the wet it was damn cold 45F and grip was ok but not stellar. Still, the tries did well all in all and nearly EVERYONE was complaining about not being able to put the power down that day. The very cold track/weather was the culprit.
Seems 10K too high to me. Great thing about ebay is you just never know. I had been watching helmets for track days, they've been going for $150 on average then 1 day I got one for $20. and it is a Bell SA95, it's only good for another year but what do you want for $20. Ive been watching those 308 airbox stencils and they've sold between $14 and $60, you just never know.
I sold my '83 308 with 28K miles for $35,000. Service 2 years old. Just have to find the right buyer.
Zero feedback buyer - I am pretty sure Vegas would give me even odds that the buyer is either the seller or one of his buddies pumping up the auction. Let's see if it gets relisted.
I think you nailed. The one before the last guy bid 10,000 over the previous bidder. You have to be dub to do that or in co huts with the seller.
Early on, I e-mailed the guy and offered him $30K cash to buy it the next day. He was insulted. He said he wanted $37,500. I've been shopping for a 308 for 4 months. I thought my $30K budget would be enough. $42K seems really high. If its that well kept why wouldn't he have replaced the old windshield wipers, or fix the "fair" e-brake? Hopefully I can find my F-car soon:-( Peace out. Marc
You can do belts and waterpump yourself for $500 easily no big deal. I think more and more people are realizing service work is not rocket science and can be done cheaply. Its things like cosmetics and rust that cost the money and can be hard to fix.
A friend of mine has been looking for ages for a perfect original early carb 308 for himself but they are getting hard to find for under $30k. He tried to buy the yellow 77 that went on ebay last month for $37k in the end and the guy turned down $35k before the end of auction. It is worth paying for the right car if you intend to keep it for a long time.
For 42k that thing better sparkle. Engine bay is dirty, where are the floor mats? When was it last vacuumed? He's trolling for a sucker.
