I remember back in 82 or 83 a high ranking military officer (I don't remember which branch) swept up everything including an Alfa Romeo Spider in the Showcase. That was the only time I ever saw any Italian car
Haha cool. I've worked on shows at CBS Television City where that show is taped. There were some cool cars in the car park including a 250 GTO recreation.
I think that QV is an 84 because my 84 QVs sticker price is $61,000 and the 85 is a bit more and the 83 is less.
I like how the host goes over all the "options" on the car in the description --- who would care !? It would be cool to track down where that 308 is now ! Any one here know anything about where it ended up ? I wonder if was one of the Magnum PI cars ?
By law they had to include "California Emissions" in the description of all cars. Funny thing is that one of my great old friends' mother-in-law was a long-time product arranger/buyer for P-I-R. By the way, am I the only one who was screaming at the screen to tell the model "GET OFF THE CAR" -- that section is so prone to denting and stretching!
That reminds me of this: In 1987, I found a bank of progressive slot machines at the Circus Circus casino in Las Vegas where the jackpot was...a Ferrari 328! I had allotted a modest sum to play the slots and did in fact win some cash, but alas, no Ferrari. 17 years later, I bought an identical car.....
Why did Barker miss that episode? I didn't think they would even bother to shoot the show if he couldn't make it.
There was a night time edition hosted by Tom Kennedy (host in the video) airing in 1985/86. Car is probably an 85.
There was an evening version way back in the 70's too . Half hour. I can see the host in my mind but I cannot remember his name.
It's kinda sad to be reminded of the time back when 60 grand was a lot of money for a car --- or even just a lot of money period .
