    Fellow Tifosi,

I have been actively shopping for a new toy. Although I was originally considering a Vantage, as a hardcore Tifoso, I realized that it is definitely time to add a Ferrari to the collection.

Before I pose my question, let me preface by saying that I have thoroughly read many of the similar threads here on f-chat about both the cars that I am considering. In the context of those forums I was able to find a great deal of useful information. Still, I haven’t been able to find a comparison between these two specific cars that hit the points that I am most concerned about.

So, the two cars that I’m considering are the 308 GTB and F355 GTB. I completely understand that they are different cars, with different personalities, and much different needs. My hope is that someone here can help me identify which one is better for what I am looking for.

I’ll be driving the car ~10k miles a year. I know both cars are easily capable of this. I will also be bringing it to a minimum of 2 track weekends a year (the rest of the track days I’ll probably continue to use my 914 and 944). My main concern is usability. I want to be able to push the car the way it was meant to be driven without needing to worry about mechanical issues. I am aware of the belt changes to both cars, the power window issues on the 308, the headers and valve guide replacements on the F355.

Given these factors, the F355 seems like the obvious choice. My confliction is that I am hoping to treat myself to a 360 (as it is my absolute dream car) for my 30th birthday in a few years. If I do so, I am concerned that it will be too similar to the F355. I know that if I opt for the 308 now, I will be keeping it forever since it has such a different personality.

(PS: I know the 328 and 348 are both amazing cars and have amazing ownership communities. As an artist, lines and design are very important factors in my decision, and I do not LOVE the designs of those two the way I love the 308 and F355. The same way some people prefer Kate Upton to Minka Kelly. Although they are both gorgeous, in my opinion I’d have Minka Kelly)
