The passenger door on my 85 308 doesn't want to close properly. You really have to give it a good bump to latch. Has anybody experienced that type of issue? What should be done to repair? Does the ferrari tech have to do that work? Thanks, Eddie

It could be the door pins sagging. Only fix for those is to replace them.

    Last price I had was $45 each and a $.25 C clip.

Make sure all the parts are tight. I had a loose striker plate before...and the check strap can get loose too.

    Do all that first.

308 doors can sag without the pins being worn out and in my experience it happens more often on the right doors. Passengers are never as careful as owners and I have always theorized that passengers push themselves back up to a standing position on the door, tweaking it.

I have used a floor jack but you also can, if you are as big as me anyway, grab the door around the bottom and just lift. You have to lift until the upper edge almost crashes into the fender rear edge and let it spring back. Make repeated attempts.

I have done it to a hundred cars.

My driver's door sags about 1/2" and the window frame has worn the corner of the quarter window down in the corner from where the two point rub when closing the door. I'm afraid if I have the door taken off and reattached, the gap between the front fender and door will be too close.

Lubed the latch. Checked for any possible obstructions. The power lock button was not working properly before this occured. Intermittently wouldn't lock the door. Could that have something to do with it? You have to hold the door handle open, bump it hard to get it to latch halfway. If you bump it again, it opens back up. If you manipulate the latch with the door open on the drivers side, it clicks twice. If you do the same on the passenger side it only clicks once. The problem seems to be internal. Anybody experience this before? Do you have to take the whole door panel off to access/repair? Should this be done by the mechanic shop? I can't drive to car because the door won't shut at all now. Really strange. Thanks

Brian is right. In the 308 tech upgrades it says apply so many kilos to the end of the door. I jacked mine up until the car almost lifted off the ground and got chicken, any way it still sticks. I even took the door and hinges off, bad mistake and very hard and still no success. There is no way to adjust the door on my car that I could find, you can adjust the striker plate a little...

BTW the passenger side is fine!!

I agree that you should try to lube the locking mechanism first. I had a simular problem and I used Lock-Ease in several applications and the door now closes and stays closed. Before I lubed the lock I would close the door and after a short ride the passenger door would be ajar. Now it stays closed. I think Lock-Ease is good because when the "carrier" liquid evaporates a graphite coating stays and will not melt out on hot days or pick up dust. Won't freeze either.

has anyone had to take a door panel off a 308 before? I think my problem is an internal mechanism.

Brian...I understand the first part of the "grab the door and lift" procedure, but not the "until the upper edge almost crashes into the fender rear edge" part. Can you elaborate? I would be affraid of lifting-up on the door too much.

    Appreciate your help.

Exact same problem. Door even popped open while driving. Tightened everything, some found only finger tight, and the problem went away.
