    1977 308GTB w/ points still active.

I pulled the plugs out of my car last night to check them after my carb. rebuild. I noticed that I have two different types of plug extentions. One set has almost no resistance (and a continuity tone) the other set has lots of resistance (20K) and no continuity tone on the volt/ohm meter.

Which one am I supposed to have?

i was'nt aware that there are any resistive extenders. they are made from a solid piece of plated brass with a rhinite case. most times you get corrosion that interfers with the connection, i used some small needle nose pliers and removed the retaining clip for the spark plug cleaned the inside with some emery and and the clip re-installed and checked the resistance again. arcing will also produce carbon burn spots that make for bad connections and also will burn holes in the rhinite outer allowing for further arcing to the head and loss of spark to the cylinder.

MSD makes extenders also, not sure if they are longer/shorter than the ferrari ones but you get 16 in the set along with boot ends. PN# 3475. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=MSD%2D3475&N=115&autoview=sku

Red=resistive, black=0 resistance. Whatever your car needs they should be the same for all cylinders.

They are all black and the resistive ones look different than the non-resistive ones.

You want me to come over and let ya look at mine? Or you could drop by...

Of course ours are all black, he was talking about the set of 16 from MSD....for the Hemi..8 red 8 black in the set of 16

Sounds like someone relaced some of yours with the wrong ones, I think zero resistance is correct for our cars, bro.....do not know for sure....

If don't have a 308 now but when I put new extenders on my car years ago the ones I got from Ferrari had almost no resistance I remember checking before installing them, I know for sure they didn't have 20K. They were all black too. Regards, Vern

Vern's old car IS my car! ROTFLMAO! #22127

You didn't know he was a previous owner of The World's Fastest Art Car Ferrari, as seen in Cavallino #133, the Houston Chronicle Champ Car racing coverage, and the recent New York Times Automotive Section?

Man, padner you need to come by more often!

They are still black and have no cracks, I clean and clear coat them with ignition sealer when changing plugs...my well seals are gone though, it doesn't like being left out in the rain......

He actually kept it the longest period of any previous owner.......good records too. I called him after reading them and thanked him, before I even knew him.

Lady Valeria's son home from College....we put him in the Mother in Law cottage across the drive, to save our sanity...and relationship.

But we didn't cable in the Internet....

And we didn't mount a DishTV uplink...

So while she entertains her Mom, and guests from Kansas down on the Coast this week, He's keeping me company from the Living room on the sofa!

I'm in the Ferrari Lounge study...I'll run him off when the Corona runs out....LOL!

Not a bad kid, but has been the center of his own Universe a few too many years...do you know that syndrome? ;)

I started peddling a paper route at 14 and with March's layoff this is the longest I've gone without working in my life! I'll get bored soon I'm sure, any day now!
