Did the 308 ever have power door locks?
My ‘82 308GTSi has power passenger side lock. Operates when the driver side lock opens and closes. Not sure Ferrari ever had a true remote power door lock on the 308s....
Hi Folks I have a 1982 308 GTSi and the remote door locks are wonky. Most of the time when I hit the remote lock one door opens and the other one locks. First thing I thought of was a reverse wire. Makes sense. Here is the wonky part, occasionally when I hit the remote, both doors will lock or both doors will open. I just put up to gremlins I lock the doors manually Cheers
"Here is the wonky part, occasionally when I hit the remote, both doors will lock or both doors will open." What remote?
Hi Mike 996 A remote is an item that allows you to turn stuff on or off remotely. When I bought my car 14 years ago the previous owner installed an alarm system in the car. Part of that system was a remote door lock feature. Which was on the same remote key fob. I Hope this clears things up for you.
Thanks for the clarification. I was concerned that the previous owner of my 328 had forgotten to give me the factory remote key fob when I bought the car in '08! Your most likely culprit is your alarm system. It is one of the usual suspect for problems of all sorts. The first thing to do if you buy a 3x8 that has an alarm system is to totally remove it and check/remake the bad connections that resulted from the install. In this case, since it controls the door locks, a "usual suspect" becomes the "likely perpetrator!" Re alarms on these cars - worrying about someone stealing a 3x8 is like worrying about a shark attack in Kansas. The cars have no value at all to chop shops. If you had a Toyota, that would be a different thing.
I have a 1983 GTSI QV that came with remote locks that did not work. Putting in replacement units in the doors only shorted out. I replaced the system with a wireless unit that is a low cost option. The solenoid drivers fit right in with mounting screws in the exact place as the Ferrari units. The difficulty is to route the wiring from the driver side door into the dash area. the system works fine and you can remotely lock the doors.
Sorry you took offense; it was certainly unintended. My first sentence was meant to be funny; the rest is just factual info concerning the fact that aftermarket alarms are well-known for causing problems and the reality that Ferrari's don't appear even at the bottom of the list of stolen cars because they have no chop shop/parts resale value to car thieves.
