Has anybody had this problem? I mounted my nice, new Hayden 3680s, and now, as I slide the lower valance back into place, the inside lower lip is interfering w/ the lower fan shrouds! I just need about an inch more, for the valance to seat properly..

Am I forced to trim away part of the plastic fan shroud? That would leave the fan blade uncovered, and probably pretty close to the valance.

I would really want to avoid cutting out part of the valance.

Anybody have any experience w/ this sort of problem?

I don't have these fans, so I can't positively suggest, but, could you re-mount the fans a little bit higher up the rad to give you the clearance?

    Peter,
I thought about that, but that would have them sticking out over the top, plus I then wouldn't be able to have the secure lower mount screws in place....

I think I'm gonna have to trin the shroud. I can't see any other option, because I'm not gonna alter the valance.......

    Thanks, though....

Be careful then, that the fan blade tips don't hit the valance while they're exposed.

I know, that's my big concern...

Major bummer... I was hoping to put the valance on today and be done with this project. Guess not....

Ferraris are always difficult to modify--they present consistent challenges...

When I put new shocks/springs on recently, I had to bore out the shock mount ferrules to fit the slightly larger Ferrari shock mount bolts....

    It's worth it, though!!

    Mike,
Thanks for the pix. They look just like mine, same height, too.

I did have to trim the lower 2" or so off the fan covering, in order for the valance to slide in place fully. No big deal, 1/2 hour w/ the Dremel...

Now I can't figure out why the left side fan won't come on at high temp.
I shorted the two wires going to the radiator temp switch, both fans come on fine...

I think the internals of the temp switch are shot. Is there a simple, generic replacement for the radiator temp switch? I'm gonna check now for the parts cross-reference stickie on the site somewhere.....

I bought the volkswagen rad temp switch at auto zone tonight.

    Part # SW 533,

Can anybody confirm the temp rating on this thing? Nobody at autozone knew, and it's not on the box.....

Greg i looked into this and the Autozone rep told me its 180 degrees. you can go to a BMW/ or VW place and get the genuine VW part that is rated at 160 degrees. the part number is in the x ref thread i started. Michael

    Michael,
Isn't 180 OK? The Ferrari stock temp switch is rated at 195, right?
I prefer a little cooler turn-on threshold for the fans....

    Is 180 too hot?

I have a VW daily driver. With 180 stat the fan comes on at roughly 190. If you install a lower temp switch, the fans will be on all the time. You don't want that.

The newer GM cars turn the fan on at over 200 degrees, usually around 210. Probably a bit high for an older Ferrari.

I think the Ferrari stock temp switch is also 180F
