Hi everyone, recognizing that I'm risking inviting the competition, I'm curious about your opinion on this project 308. It seems to be missing the rear distributor, coils, exhaust, air cleaners, some other parts, it has a ding in the RF nose, seats are thrashed but salvageable (?). It may be a good project for someone willing to turn a wrench. I'm pretty tempted, but the car is too far away for me to inspect.

    Thanks!

What you have here is a perfect donor car for your electric 308 GTE project.

I would love to pay 20k for that, I have all the spares to put it back running, then of course modify the hell out of it

127K miles? I am confident that someone can get it back together and running. It seems to be mostly there and parts are available. The question is the expense and time of it all, Mechanicals, suspension, interior, paint, tires, exhaust, refinish wheels, rebuild carbs, rebuild calipers. Is the motor okay, it really adds up quickly. This is a 100K project if the engine turns out to be bad. What will this 78 308 be worth when complete?

There are tons of little parts missing. Those are going to add up really quick if you are buying them one at a time from one of the wreckers. You'll be better off finding a donor car than to try to buy them all. Of course if you're Vonbarron and you already have the donor car/parts, well, this is an interesting proposition. But to think you can buy this car - even for $25k - and think you're going to fix the front wrinkle, get the motor running, get the car back to original-ish, and save money over a running car, I don't think that's going to happen.

You could also sell the existing drivetrain as parts and buy Hutch's electric conversion. Or buy some turbo Honda powertrain and put it in. I only suggest these as an alternative to its current likely destination - Trutlands or Ferrparts back lot where it would be sold to all of us in little boxes one piece at a time.
