I am having trouble locating the proper part number for the A/C belt and the Alt belt for my 1984 308 QV. I found in the archives Gates #'s 7m 975 for the Alt belt and 11m 925 for the A/C belt. I searched the Gates and Napa websites and came up blank. I also called a few stores and they all said they're not valid part numbers. Can anyone shed some light on where I can get the 2 belts without paying Ferrari dealer prices? Thanks

They're Gates Polyflex belts. These are industrial use belts so you probably won't find them at an auto parts store.

    I use #11M925 & #7M1000.

Motion Industries carries them but I don't know if they sell direct.

A list of their California locations is here: https://www.motionmro.com/motion3/jsp/mi/motion.jsp

I bought them both from Dennis McCann a few weeks ago. They were about $35 each, which was a bit steep I thought, but it was easier than hunting all over looking for them when I needed them. I'm sure you could get them cheaper from an industrial supply place. Have you tried McMaster Carr?

Darolls, thanks for the #'s. Theres a Motion Industries about 5 miles from work. I'll call them in the morning and check them out lunchtime.
Birdman, no I didn't think about McMaster-Carr. Duh. I'll check them out later or I just might call Mark at TRutlands and order the belts! Sometimes I think it's the 'fun' in finding a part that is of equal quality to the factory stuff but less expensive. (OK, I'm cheap)!

Lou...what is the procedure for changing these belts? I'm in the middle of changing fluids, some hoses and was inspecting these belts last night. Mine look good, but if the procedure for changing isn't too nightmarish, I'd tackle it while I'm in there and the wheel well is out.

    Appreciate your help!

Lou, I agree with you 100%. If I'm not in a rush for a part, it's fun to see if I can find a good price on it by hunting down the non-yellow box alternative!

It reminds me of a funny story. My gearbox fill plug was mangled by the previous owner. When I discovered it, I set out to find a generic alternative for the 22 mm drain plug. I went all over the place. Nobody had a plug that large. I figured I was going to get raped for the part from a Ferrari parts place. When I finally ran out of generic options, I broke down in defeat and called Dennis McCann Ferrari Parts. The plug in question was $3.50. (I had to order a few other things just to make the shipping worth sending me a $3.50 plug!) Now I call Dennis FIRST and then decide if it's worth spending my time in a wild goose hunt!

Can someone help me out? I'm about to order a few belts from the local Motion Industries but am confused on what sizes to order. I have a 1984 308 QV with a stock a/c compressor. Do I order Gates part # 11M925 or 11M1000 for the a/c? As far as the Alt, is part # 7M975 correct? I can't get into my garage until Saturday 'cause we're having the house tented for termites! Damn Socal!

I thought the 308 AC belt has always been the 11M925, and it was the WP/Alt belt that they slightly tweaked from 7M975 to 7M1000 on the later 308 to add a little length to center up the adjustments (I believe the number after the M is the belt length in millimeters)?

You might have a look to see if you're biased on the adjustments so longer would be better, but a 75mm length change seems like a lot.

    Lou-

On my 84' QV I use the 7M1000 and 11M925. I stated this in my original post

These are the spare belts that originally came with the car, and the belt sizes on the car now.......I replaced them about 2 yrs. ago.

Just to settle your mind, why don't you bring the belts to Motion Ind. and match them up.
